Behind every young innovator is a community that made space for them to thrive.
Reflecting on the final project presentations of our mentees after an incredible 12-week journey, we owe immense gratitude to the leadership of Juba Day Secondary School, parents, and guardians.
As the head teacher powerfully highlighted during the event, societal expectations and domestic responsibilities often create barriers for young girls pursuing extracurriculars and education. Yet, when we shift our mindset from raising "future wives" to nurturing leaders of tomorrow, the transformation is undeniable.
Equal support for both girls and boys in developing modern skills like computational thinking is no longer optional; it is essential for our collective future.
To the parents, educators, and leaders creating these path-breaking opportunities: thank you. ๐
This isn't the end of the journey, but just the beginning. Enjoy a snippet from the dayโs event! ๐

๐22nd August marked a proud milestone for the Time To Shine ICT Mentorship Programme!
After weeks of learning, creating, testing, and refining their ideas, 36 young mentees presented their mobile applications to parents, guardians, and teachers.
From identifying real-life challenges to designing digital solutions, our mentees demonstrated what problems their applications solve, whom they serve, and how they work.
It was more than a showcase; it was a celebration of curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and the power of young people to build solutions for problems in their communities.
This programme was implemented by Generation Connect fellow Grace Gaso in collaboration with GoGirls ICT Initiative as part of the International Telecommunication Union's Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme, an initiative supported by Huawei.
