📢YOUTH SPOTLIGHT: From Kenema to London!

Congratulations to Bockarie Sovula for representing Development on the global stage at the Global Partnerships Conference in London, hosted by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office! ✈️

Sovula didn't just take a seat at the table; he made sure youth voices were at the center of the conversation. In a rare, direct meeting with the Head of the Global Partnerships Conference, Sovula spoke honestly about what young people actually need to see happen "after the cameras go off."

He strongly advocated for accountability and championed the 10 Point Plan call to action, ensuring that global policies translate into real impact.

Thank you, Sovula, for your courage, leadership, and for amplifying the power of young people.

🌟 Smiles that say it all! 🌟

Through the Empower Her project, Restless Development Sierra Leone has provided vital back-to-school support (Books, pens, pencils, Mathematical sets, bags, and cash) to 50 out-of-school adolescent girls and 200 in-school girls at St Joseph’s and Harford School in Moyamba.

We’re committed to creating an environment where young people can thrive—offering essential skills, materials, and financial support so every girl can reach her full potential.

With funding from the Stone Family Foundation, the Empower Her Initiative worked hand in hand with the Government of Sierra Leone to ensure girls not only access education but also stay in school.

The impact is clear: mindsets are shifting, education is being reinforced as a pathway to empowerment, and sustainable structures are being built for the future.

We’re excited to announce the successful completion of our 10-day Savings Group Executive Training as part of the Financial Inclusion and Innovation Hub project!

248 executive members (2 from each group) representing savings groups from Freetown and Moyamba came together to strengthen their skills in leadership, governance, financial management, record-keeping, digital savings (Mikashboks & mobile money), financial literacy, business growth, renewable energy, gender equality, social inclusion, safeguarding, and more.

This training not only equipped participants to better manage their groups but also fostered connections and learning across communities.
A huge thank you to Jersey Overseas Aid for funding this initiative, and to our implementing partners Mikashboks, The Energy Nexus Network , and Sierra Leone Commercial Bank for supporting the smooth implementation of the project!
Together, we’re building stronger, more inclusive communities.
