Its been a hell of a ride!
Rickard Fäldt has decided to part ways with THE GENERALS. It has been an amazing run and we, the rest of the band wish him all the best. Rickard has been a founding member for 23 years and will forever be a part of the family and the legacy of the band. We full heartedly support him in his decision and his future endeavors.
Not to worry though. As for the upcoming live shows, we will shortly present a worthy guitar player to fill these boats of shoes and perform some crushing Swedish death metal with us on our upcoming gigs.
Rickard’s statement:
After 23 years with The Generals, I’ve made the decision to step down from the band.
It hasn’t been an easy decision – The Generals have been a huge part of my life for most of my adult years. Not just as a band, but as a second family.
We’ve pushed on through both good times and bad, rehearsed almost every week all these years. We’ve shared countless gigs, tours, laughs, chaos, and memories (and memory lapses) that I will always carry with me.
The reason is simple: life looks different today, and the time and commitment that a band like The Generals deserves just isn’t fully there for me right now. The band’s continued progress is more important than me being the one holding things back.
This comes entirely in a spirit of friendship and with great respect and love for both the band and all the years we’ve had together. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built and everything we’ve accomplished.
I will continue to be creative and active in music, but in other projects that better fit where I am in life right now.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years – fans, friends, promoters, and everyone else who’s been part of the journey.
The Generals will always be an important part of me.
See you out there.
