Autumn is again special for BioCoderDojo Timisoara: two of our first batch ninjas are starting their PhD studies!

Congrats goes to Mihai Fracea, now a Biotech PhD Candidate at University of Groningen and David Livadariu, just admitted in the Biology doctoral program at the Facultatea de Chimie, Biologie, Geografie of the Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara!

Admire Mihai and David in 2019 and 2026, at Te Miri Ce, our initial venue, defending a candidature or... enjoying a beer with Radu Ticiu, the now and then champion of the dojo. :)

The first edition of the *How To Biomanufacture (Almost) Anything* course organized by MIT Media Lab and open to global online participation was announced! It will complement the Spring semester How to Grow (Almost) Anything course.

🌿 BeeGreen revine — și de data asta construim in Tabăra Polenizatorilor Urbani! 🐝🔧

După prima ediție care ne-a aprins imaginația la foc de tabără, hackathonul BeeGreen (https://beegreen.greentwin.ro/) intră în faza de implementare la GreenFeel cu gradinarii de la Grădinescu Timişoara - GreenFeel. Nu mai concepem soluții pentru natură ci le construim efectiv, cu mâinile noastre.

Sâmbătă și duminică, 25-26 iulie, la GreenFeel, copiii, liceenii și studenții mentori lucrează cot la cot pe proiecte reale:
🌡️ stație meteo și măsurare poluare — pentru că albinele ne spun când aerul devine periculos
⚖️ cântar apicol — ca să știm în timp real cât cântărește un stup și cm evoluează culesul
📷 sistem video de observare — să vedem ce se întâmplă la urdiniș fără să deranjăm familia
🪵 migrare polenizatori în stup tradițional (coșniță) — întoarcerea la rădăcini cu ochi tehnic
🐝 verificare stup de bondari — monitorizare și îngrijire pentru cei mai harnici polenizatori ai grădinii

Miruna Chira-Jurj, Cristian Stiegelbauer and Radu Paul Constantin, young mentors from the CoderDojo Timișoara network were involved in facilitation of the tech workshops of the event, while Radu Ticiu conducted a BioAlphabet interactive training with middle school kids, exploring topics like cell models and biophysical and biochemical processes, the "readability and writability" of the genetic code.

Great to be in the nature at Grădinescu Timişoara - GreenFeel, with passionate and energetic kids in an event financed by Științescu Timișoara!

Together with friends at Young European Biologists - YEB, BioCraftEd.xyz, BioCoderDojo Timisoara develops a series of online technical trainings in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics dedicated to high school and university students (and other interested), to be delivered during the second semester.

We'd like to adapt the design of this educational program to the specific needs of those potentially participating.
