Last evening, Business Review Magazine proudly hosted the Leaders to Watch Awards Gala 2026 a special celebration dedicated to the visionary leaders shaping the future of business in Romania.

The world economy loses around 25.4 trillion euros in value annually, equivalent to almost 31% of the global GDP of 82.6 trillion euros, due to the linear way resources are managed – which means that for every three euros created, one euro is lost, according to The Circularity Gap Report 2026, conducted by Deloitte and Circle Economy. This year’s report introduces the concept of Value Gap, which is a monetary quantification of the economic value lost due to inefficient use of resources, but which also shows the opportunities created by the circular economy, which reduces waste generation and retains more value in the economy.

A landmark moment for Romanian cinema on the global stage: Cristian Mungiu wins his second Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes with Fjord, becoming one of only ten directors in history to achieve the distinction.
Before receiving Cannes’ top prize, the film had already earned four major awards: the François Chalais Prize, the Citizenship Award, the Ecumenical Jury Prize, and the FIPRESCI Prize.

The rise in inflation was driven mainly by services, rather than by food or fuel prices. Rents recorded a sharp monthly rise of 33%, while air fares increased by 27%, a seasonal movement that is not unusual around the Easter period. Compared with March, food prices rose by 0.5%, while non-food goods were up 0.4%. Petrol prices fell by 1.2%, while diesel prices increased by 2.3%.
