The United Arab Emirates breached its May temperature record for the second day in a row, hitting 51.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday, according to the National Center of Meteorology.

“The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 51.6C in Sweihan (Al Ain) at 13:45 UAE local time (0945 GMT),” the office said in a post on X, 1.2C hotter than the temperature recorded on Friday in the Abu Dhabi area.

Both those temperatures exceeded a previous record for the month of 50.2 Celsius recorded in May 2009, according to the meteorology office.

The tournament will be hosted by Qatar from Dec. 1 to 18, under the supervision of FIFA for the second consecutive time.

The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has announced that, according to astronomical calculations, Wednesday, May 28 will mark the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, while Tuesday, May 27 will be the final day of Dhul-Qi’dah for this year.

Eng. Faisal Al-Ansari, Executive Director of QCH, stated that the crescent moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH will be born on Tuesday, May 27 at 6:03 AM Doha local time (3:03 AM UTC). In Qatar, the crescent will set 39 minutes after sunset, with visibility increasing further west. The Islamic calendar months are determined by the moon’s orbit around Earth, in accordance with established astronomical principles.

The draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will be held tomorrow, Sunday, in Doha. The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 3 to 27, marking the first time in the competition’s history that 48 teams will participate.

FIFA previously awarded Qatar the hosting rights for five consecutive editions of the U-17 World Cup, beginning in 2025 under its new expanded format, which features 48 teams - a historic first across all FIFA tournaments.

The upcoming tournament will see 104 matches played over a span of 25 days. All games will be held at eight stadiums within the Aspire Academy, while the final will take place at Khalifa International Stadium.

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the final match of the 2025 HH the Amir Football Cup between Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa, which was held at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday evening.

The match ended with Al Gharafa defeating Al Rayyan 2-1.

After that, HH the Amir handed the Al Gharafa players the cup and gold medals, and handed the Al Rayyan players the silver medals.
