On 16th of May 2022 the state of pandemic will be lifted in Poland and changed into the state of epidemic emergency.

During the state of epidemic emergency all the special solutions for foreigners are still valid. This means you can apply for temporary residence permit within the 30 days after the state of epidemic emergency ends. During this time your stay as foreigner is legal.

During this time also residence titles like visas, visa free traffic, TRC that end during this time shall be extended.

Validity of the residence documents (for example residence cards) is extended.

525 thousand foreigners have valid residence permits after the third quarter of 2021.
In the first three quarters of the year, the largest increase among foreigners settling in Poland concerned citizens of:
Ukraine - by 49.7 thousand persons
Belarus - by 8.4 thousand persons
Georgia - by 1.7 thousand persons
Moldova - by 1.3 thousand persons
India - by 1.1 thousand persons

👉 Beginning on 2nd August 2021, documents for the citizens of European Union Member States, European Economic Area, Switzerland and their families will be issued in a new format, analogous to residence card. The new format is going to increase the security, durability and make the documents more uniform 👇

The following documents are going to be issued in a format analogous to a residence card:

– certificate for registration of stay for a EU citizen

– residence card (issued to the family member of a EU citizen)

– document confirming the right of permanent stay (issued to a EU citizen)

– permanent residence card (issued to the family member of a EU citizen).

REGISTRATION OF the EU CITIZEN - The application for registration of the stay of a citizen of the European Union is submitted to the voivode competent for the place of stay not later than on the day following the lapse of 3 months from the date of entry into the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Documents entitling to long-term stay in Poland are held by 0.5 million foreigners.
The citizens of Ukraine are definitely more than 55% of this group, but Belarusians are also settling in the country in increasing numbers.
With 500 thousand foreigners with residence permits and documents issued to citizens of EU countries, the largest groups are citizens of:
👉Ukraine - 277 000 people,
👉Belarus - 34 000,
👉Germany - 20 000,
👉Russia - 13 000,
👉Vietnam - 11 000,
👉India - 10 500,
👉Georgia - 9 000,
👉Italy - 8 500,
👉China - 6 500
👉Great Britain - 6 500.

In the first half of this year, the number of foreigners with residence permits increased by almost 42,000 people.
Almost 70 % foreigners with residence permits in Poland are under 40 years of age.
Most foreigners hold temporary residence permits, which may be issued for a maximum of 3 years. Currently, 63 % of them have this type of documents.

The above data does not include people staying in Poland temporarily under visa-free travel or on visas.
