Iceland 2026

Unitest has successfully completed the installation and training at Fjölbrautaskóli Norðurlands Vestra in Iceland.

This project is a continuation of the long-term cooperation between Unitest and Fjölbrautaskóli Norðurlands Vestra, confirming our ongoing partnership in supporting maritime education and professional seafarer training.

The installation included an update of the Unitest Marine Training Software, as well as the deployment of the well-established X92 container vessel engine room simulator and a new tugboat engine room model. These solutions further enhance the school’s training capabilities and support realistic, practice-oriented education for future marine engineers and officers.

Through projects like this, Unitest continues to actively support modern maritime training processes, contributing to the development of competent and well-prepared seafarers.

Unitest Full Mission Simulator installed at École Navale, France

Unitest has successfully completed the installation of its Full Mission hardware Engine Room Simulator at the prestigious École Navale in France. This project builds upon a long-standing partnership: for several years, École Navale utilized Unitest's software simulator, achieving excellent training outcomes that prompted the academy to upgrade to a full hardware configuration.

The new installation offers cadets an immersive, realistic ship-like environment that mirrors real engine-room operations, enabling invaluable hands-on practice in watchkeeping. Integrated with Unitest’s proven software suite, the hardware system facilitates flexible scenario authoring, comprehensive instructor oversight, and detailed performance analytics. This ensures the training is fully aligned with the latest, modern naval training standards.

École Navale, often referred to as the French Naval Academy, is the critical institution responsible for educating officers of the French Navy. Located in Lanvéoc-Poulmic near Brest, it has trained naval officers and sailors for over two centuries, awarding both engineering degrees and specialized military and maritime qualifications. Its graduates serve across surface fleets, submarines, naval aviation, and staff commands, underscoring the school's fundamental role in France's maritime defense ecosystem.”

Refreshment training for teachers.
Last week we hosted a group of enthusiastic teachers and instructors from various schools in Iceland.
Our instructor Tomasz conducted training on the use of medium speed engine room simulators like: MED3D and Tugboat3D, low speed engine room simulator – X92 and diesel electric engine room simulator – LNG-DE3D.
The participants were very interested in the training topics and we are glad that once again we could make some contribution to maritime education through this simulation training.
It was our great pleasure to meet the users of our software from this beautiful island!
Let’s stay in touch!

We are excited to introduce two more types of our Single Console Engine Room Simulator. Apart from the first version (desktop type) we have launched two further types: a freestanding type (version B) and a freestanding type with wall-mounted monitors (version C). The new console is compact in size and includes real engine control levers, digital gauges and several touchscreen monitors. The PC is built inside the device, so no additional configuration is required and the simulator is immediately ready to use. The new console is recommended for small training centers and can work with various medium speed engine room models.
For more information please contact us directly.

Training in Indonesia

Following the successful installation of Engine Room Simulator Software including MER3D and CBT package at Maritime Academi (AKMI) of Suaka Baghari in Cirebon, West Java, Unitest tutor visited the site to conduct the instructor training.
After the session, our representative took part in the official but very enthusiastic welcome of the training participants by the cadets
of the AKMI campus (please watch the video).

If it is needed, Unitest provides software installation support and on-site or online training in the use of the simulators.
It is worth mentioning that AKMI in Cirebon is another location in Indonesia where Unitest simulators redound to the professional development of the seafarer training process.

First Unitest Engine Room Simulator in Papua New Guinea

We are pleased to announce the completion of installation and the opening of a new Unitest Full Mission Engine Room Simulator in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea.

The simulator is located at the Papua New Guinea National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA). NMSA was established in 2003 and is responsible for matters concerning maritime safety, coordination of search and rescue, and marine pollution prevention.

The simulator includes models of low- and medium-speed engine rooms, as well as LNG-fueled engine rooms with the possibility of learning the LNG bunkering procedure. The simulator will be used by NMSA for training and examinations of marine engineering officers, among other things.

Marine engine room simulators play an extremely important role in the training process, but they are also an invaluable tool in assessing the practical skills of candidates for seagoing jobs.
