Forbannet - "Tyran"

Przypomina o sobie Forbannet, którego to całkiem niezła EPka pojawiła się w 2023. Zespół wraca ponownie z kolejnym materiałem w tym formacie, w lekko zmienionym składzie. Na perkusję wskoczyła Sh*tala, a na drugą gitarę Havocaust znany z hordy Trup.

Jak im teraz wyszło? Ano uważam, że jest lepiej i jeszcze bardziej klimatycznie. Estetyką zespół nie opuszcza Norwegii i okolic. Nadal jest po te dźwięki, ale bez żadnego zrzynania. O nie! Tego nie można im zarzucić. Panowie rwą riffy zimne, ostre, ale nie brakuje im pewnej chwytliwości. Kojarzycie te mniej intensywne numery Gorgoroth z "Pentagram", to tutaj mamy podobny sznyt w tej kwestii. Przewija się tu też dużo inspiracji wczesnym Mayhem i Darkthrone z czasów klasycznych albumów. No i są tu też akcenty klawiszowe fajnie podbijające atmosferę i tam gdzie trzeba nadając podniosłości.

Jest to klasyka w kolejnym wydaniu, ale w wydaniu świadomym, pasjonackim i nadającym świeżego tchnienia w ten temat. Szkoda, że to tylko cztery numery, bo cholera, miałem ochotę na więcej. Nic, trzeba czekać na pełniaka, a "Tyranowi" uważam należy się wydanie winylowe w jakieś wersji die hard. Kawał bardzo dobrego black metalu, który ma szansę coś tam namieszać wśród fanów norweskiego BM w wydaniu polskim, ale nie tylko. Polecam!

Forbannet - "Tyran"

Forbannet, whose pretty good EP came out in 2023, is back with new material in the same format, with a slightly changed lineup. Sh*tala has joined on drums, and Havocaust, known from the band Trup, is now on second guitar.

How did it turn out this time? Well, I think it's better and even more atmospheric. Aesthetically, the band stays in Norway and its surroundings. They still go for those sounds, but without any copying. Oh no! You can't accuse them of that. The guys play cold, sharp riffs, but they are not lacking in catchiness. If you are familiar with the less intense songs of Gorgoroth from “Pentagram,” we have a similar vibe here. There is also a lot of inspiration from early Mayhem and Darkthrone from the days of their classic albums. And there are also keyboard accents that nicely enhance the atmosphere and add solemnity where needed.

This is another classic-type release, but one that is conscious, passionate, and breathes new life into the genre. It's a shame that there are only four tracks, because damn, I wanted more. Oh well, we'll have to wait for the full album, and I think “Tyran” deserves a die-hard vinyl release. A piece of very good black metal that has a chance to stir things up among fans of Polish Norwegian BM in, but not only them. Recommended!

The first seal is broken…

HAG is no newcomer, but a manifestation summoned from Poznan, Poland: black metal stripped bare of illusion and mercy - cold, violent, and irreverent.

Drawing from the diseased spirit of mid-to-late Darkthrone, Arnaut Pavle, Young and in the Way, and executed by members of Nihilvm, Mental Funeral, and Impure Declaration, HAG tears open the body and abandons it to rot while still breathing. No catharsis. No redemption. Only decay.

Black Metal from Poland

This is most likely one of my last presentations this year. The ending was really strong in terms of the frequency of posting subsequent installments of this series. 2024 in "In a few words" closed with the excellent DEAMONOLITH "The Monolithic Cult Of Death". Will it be FORBANNET this year with their latest EP "Tyran"? We'll find out tomorrow.
This is the second release from this young, promising Polish band. Their first EP was released two years ago and, from what I remember, received very positive reviews. There shouldn't be a problem here either, considering that the band is consistently following the path chosen on their debut EP. So it's still Black Metal, very much rooted in the Norwegian second wave, so references to MAYHEM, GORGOROTH, or at some moments URGEHAL shouldn't be a surprise here. Hell from "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", characteristic, frosty and melodic riffs from "Under The Sign Of Hell" by GORGOROTH and aggressive attacks in the style of URGEHAL or TSJUDER. On "Tyran" this mixture is truly explosive, additionally spiced up in places with majestic keyboards, so there is no way to avoid a detonation. A truly venomous publication. FORBANNET, with their own ideas, manages to transform old, proven recipes into something fresh and unique. And while on the first material with which they marked their presence on stage, they clearly indicated their inspirations, here, in connection with these inspirations, the contours of their style are clearly outlined. Increasingly bold and mature.
The power of FORBANNET is crystallizing very promisingly. And if it continues this way, who knows, it could be a very important name in the Polish Black Metal scene soon. Maybe the coming year will bring a full album? I think this could be something very interesting. And of course, I'm waiting.
