اسلام اور خلافت کی لاج جتنی ہند کی مٹی نے رکھی شاید ہی دنیا میں کسی اسلامی ملک نے رکھی ہو۔ جب لوگوں کو پاکستان کے مقابلے میں افغانستان یا ترکی سے مرعوب ہو کر ان کی مثالیں دیتا دیکھتا ہوں تو اپنوں کی کم ظرفی اور ناشکری حقیقی معنوں میں کڑھنے پر مجبور کردیتی ہے۔۔۔

یورپ میں 'ایج آف ڈسکوری' یعنی دریافتوں کا دور تھا اور سپین، پرتگال، نیدرلینڈز اور برطانوی بحری بیڑے دنیا بھر کے سمندر کھنگال رہے تھے۔ براعظم امریکہ کی دریافت اور اس پر قبضے سے یورپ کو بقیہ دنیا پر واضح برتری حاصل ہو گئی اور انھوں نے جگہ جگہ اپنی نوآبادیاں قائم کرنا شروع کر دی تھیں۔۔

16ویں اور 17ویں صدیوں میں سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی کے میدان میں یورپ نے بقیہ دنیا کو پیچھے چھوڑ دیا۔ اس کی ایک وجہ یہ تھی کہ جہاز رانی کی صنعت کے فروغ کی وجہ سے انھیں جہاز رانی کے لیے نت نئے آلات ایجاد کرنے اور انھیں بہتر بنانے کی ضرورت تھی جس نے سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی دونوں کو فروغ دیا۔

دوسری چیز چھاپہ خانہ تھی، جس کی 1439 میں ایجاد کے بعد یورپ میں علمی اور فکری انقلاب بپا ہو گیا۔ وہ علوم و فنون جن پر اس سے پہلے صرف اشرافیہ اور کلیسا کا اجارہ تھا، اب عام آدمی کی دسترس میں آ گئے۔۔ دنیا بھر کے مسلمانوں کو لیڈ خلافت عثمانیہ کر رہی تھی۔۔قریباً آدھے اسلامی ممالک پر ان کا براہ راست قبضہ تھا جبکہ باقی ماندہ اسلامی بھی اجتہاد و ابتداء کے معاملے میں ان ہی کی راہ تک رہے ہوتے تھے۔۔ جب یورپ میں چھاپہ خانہ آیا تو عثمانیوں نے اس ایجاد کے استعمال یا ترک استعمال کا فیصلہ ماہرین سیاست کے بجائے مذہبی ماہرین کے حوالے کردیا۔۔ ان مذہبی ماہرین نے چھاپہ خانہ کو بدعت قرار دے کر ناجائز ٹھہرادیا۔ یہ ہی مسلمانوں کے عروج کا ٹرننگ پوائنٹ تھا۔ ۔ صرف دو سے تین صدیوں بعد یورپ ترقیوں کے آسمان پر موجود تھا جبکہ ہم اجتہاد کے دروازے بند کر کے زوال کو سینے سے چپکائے زمین پر کھڑے تھے۔

پھر جب ہندوستان کے وسیع و عریض خطے پر مسلمانوں کی عظیم الشان سلطنت چند ہزار برطانوی سپاہیوں کے ہاتھوں تار تار ہو رہی تھی اس وقت بھی ٹیپو سلطان کی مدد کے لیے فرانس آگے آیا یا پرتگال، لیکن خلافت عثمانیہ نے اپنے پر نہیں کھولے۔۔

پھر جب پہلی عالمی جنگ میں غیروں کی جنگ میں کود کر ترکی کی خلافت خطرے میں پڑ گئی تو ہندوستان کے مسلمانوں نے سارے شکوے بھلا کر خلافت کی بقا کے لیے کوششیں کرنا شروع کردیں۔۔

1920 میں انڈین نیشنل کانگریس نے بھی تحریکِ خلافت کا ساتھ دینا شروع کر دیا۔ مہاتما گاندھی کی عدم تشدد پر مبنی سول نافرمانی کی مہم تحریکِ خلافت ہی کے بطن سے پھوٹی تھی۔ دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ قائداعظم محمد علی جناح نے خود کو اس تحریک سے الگ تھلگ رکھا کیوں کہ وہ سمجھتے تھے کہ یہ کامیاب نہیں ہو سکے گی۔

اس سے پہلے یہ تحریک مزید زور پکڑتی، 1922 میں کمال اتاترک کی قیادت میں قوم پرست طاقتوں نے ملک کا اقتدار سنبھال کر خلیفہ عبدالحمید کو معزول اور خلافت کے منصب کو ختم کر دیا، اور یوں 623 برس تک شان و شوکت سے راج کرنے والی اس عظیم سلطنت کا سورج ہمیشہ کے لیے غروب ہو گیا۔

ہندوستانی مسلمان عوام نے انتہائی جوش و جذبے سے تحریکِ خلافت میں حصہ لیا۔ مولانا سیدابوالحسن علی ندوی لکھتے ہیں: 'جنھوں نے 1921-22 کا زمانہ نہیں دیکھا، ان کو کیا بتایا جائے کہ اس وقت ہندستان کس طرح کوہ آتش فشاں بنا ہوا تھا، اتحادیوں کی فتح سلطنت عثمانیہ کے خلاف ان کے منصوبوں اور خلافت کو ختم کردینے کی کوشش کی خبر نے سارے ہندوستان میں آگ لگا رکھی تھی، مسجدوں، مجلسوں، مدرسوں، گھروں، دکانوں اور خلوت و جلوت، کہیں گویا اس گفتگو کے سوا کوئی گفتگو نہ تھی۔'
عوام نے تحریک کی کامیابی کے لیے دل کھول کر چندہ دیا۔ ہندوستان کے طول و عرض سے عورتوں تک نے اپنے ہاتھوں کی چوڑیاں اور کانوں سے بُندے اتار کر خلافت کمیٹیوں کی نذر کر دیے۔

روایت مشہور ہے کہ ایک عورت اپنا بچہ لے آئی اور یہ کہہ کر خلافت کمیٹی کے حوالے کر دیا کہ میرے پاس چندے میں دینے کے لیے اس کے سوا کچھ نہیں ہے۔۔

ہم نے 1919 میں تحریک خلافت چلائی، ورلڈ وار ون اس وعدے پر انگریزوں کے ساتھ مل کر لڑی کہ ہمارے ترکی اور اس کی خلافت کو کچھ نہ کہا جائے۔۔ ہم یہاں جیلیں بھگتتے رہے ماریں کھاتے رہے اور وہ خلافت ترکی نے خود ہی ختم کر ڈالی، شکریہ تو دور کی بات اس نے مڑ کر ہم سے پوچھا یا بتایا تک نہیں ۔۔

پھر جب عرب اسرائیل جنگ میں عربوں کو مار پڑ رہی تھی تب بھی پاکستان ہزاروں میل کا فاصلہ طے کر کے اسرائیل کو سبق سکھانے گیا، عظیم فوجی قوت رکھنے والا ترکی تو اسرائیل کے ساتھ ہی بیٹھا تھا، بس خاموش تماشہ دیکھتا رہا۔۔جبکہ ہم تو تازہ تازہ پاک بھارت جنگ سے نکلے تھے جس نے ہمیں ہلا کر رکھ دیا ہوا تھا۔ لیکن ہم نے پھر بھی ان کی مدد کی۔۔۔

ترکی نے اسرائیل کو تسلیم کر رکھا ہے، اس کے آج بھی اسرائیل کے ساتھ بڑے اچھے سفارتی تعلقات ہیں۔۔ پاکستان نے آج بھی اسرائیل کو تسلیم نہیں کیا اور فلسطینیوں کے ساتھ کھڑا ہے۔۔۔ بھوکے مر رہے ہیں، چندے اور بھیک مانگ رہے ہیں لیکن اسرائیل کو تسلیم نہیں کر رہے۔۔
مجھے ذاتی طور پر ترکی سب مسلم ممالک سے زیادہ پسند ہے، لیکن اس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ میرا ملک پاکستان ترکی سے کم تر ہے۔۔ پاکستان پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں۔۔ بس!!
