For those of you new here, I am a writer, but I am also in an accelerated nursing program to get my BSN. This picture was taken during one of my specialty rotations. It truly takes up all of my time.

Below is a poem I had written hidden away in the bathroom when this photo was taken because it was my only break of the day.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I like to sit and stare as the world passes by. one life among the masses of time. Inconsequential to most and divine to a few.

The side of writing I feel the reader doesn't see. This photo was taken the night my final edits were due back. I worked that day, had class after, then homework, and stayed up until 2 AM getting everything finalized. It's DEFINITELY why I look like Old Hag Grimhilde here.

Regardless, thanks to everyone who has read The Human Zoo thus far. It's such an incredible feeling to know someone took time out of their life to dive into the pages of a book that came straight from my depraved mind.

My favorite part about writing is hearing what people think. Learning and listening to the thoughts spinning through their head as they read my work. My little sister gave me the pleasure of sharing her thoughts throughout the entire book. From rage texting to emotional thanks, she was a big supporter of The Human Zoo, and I didn’t realize I would feel debited to a teenager.

Except when she tells me my stickers are too boring 🙄😑 I mean I could do without that, Klaireeeeeee.

Something I don’t feel is mentioned enough is how indie authors must do everything themselves: writing, marketing, and advertising. We have to find editors, cover artists, for matters, reviewers, and more. This is a small snapshot of a very long list.

Most of us have full-time jobs and pay for everything out of pocket. In my case, I'm a full-time nursing student who also works part-time.

With this being said, I am still reeling from all the support this weekend. It feels like a fever dream.

Thank you to my friends who came out to support me. Thank you to all my new readers who took a chance on my novel and listened to me ramble. Thank you to my partner, who did all my last-minute errands and continues to support me behind the scenes.
Thank you to my nursing friends who took the time to see me even though we have an exam today, and each minute not at school is still about school.

I am still in shock. This weekend I SOLD OUT of my stock of The Human Zoo.

Despite the rain and the heat, hundreds of readers attended the and supported all the amazing authors.

I am tired and sweaty, but I wouldn’t have traded my weekend for the world. It was incredible to meet everyone who popped by my small booth. I am so grateful to all of the readers who picked up a sticker, grabbed my business card, or went as far as to buy my book. I wish I could do more to show my thanks.

HUGE shoutout to my cover artist , who is the main reason people stopped by, drawn in by the cover. Your work is flawless.

Another huge shoutout to the designer of the zoo maps, . You brought to life the concept, and it inspired people to ask questions. Your work is unmatched.

And to your artwork of Priya elevated my small booth. It brought the story to life and I can't thank you enough.

This is me avoiding all of my responsibilities because I don't know where to start.

Thanks to for capturing me almost burning her house down.

I have so many unfinished works can I even be considered a writer?

I’m still searching for you. I hope one day to be reunited like long lost lovers.
