SDO Digos equips teachers with literacy, numeracy resources for class opening

DIGOS CITY — The Schools Division of Digos City ramped up class-opening readiness by equipping Key Stage 1 teachers with literacy and numeracy resources ahead of the opening of classes, Thursday.

The distribution furnished schools with leveled reading materials and literacy and numeracy kits designed to strengthen foundational learning and support the development of essential skills among early-grade learners.

"The resources will help teachers cultivate stronger literacy and numeracy competencies through targeted interventions before the start of the school year," said Leilani T. Señires, PhD, Education Program Supervisor and Learning Resources Manager of SDO Digos City.

She added that Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Melanie P. Estacio, PhD, CESO VI, remains steadfast in advancing the division’s literacy and numeracy agenda, expressing confidence that sustained interventions and collective efforts will propel improved learning outcomes across schools.

The kits were procured through the Special Education Fund (SEF) under the leadership of Digos City Mayor Hon. Josef D. Cagas, supporting the division’s efforts to strengthen literacy and numeracy among early-grade learners.

SDO Digos' Brigada Eskwela kick-off spurs literacy, numeracy drive

DIGOS CITY — The Schools Division of Digos City rallied teachers, parents, partners, and stakeholders behind its strengthened literacy and numeracy agenda as it opened the 2026 Brigada Eskwela at Cogon Elementary School, Monday.

"Your presence proves that education is a shared responsibility. So when you help us build these spaces for literacy and numeracy, you are helping your own children take their first steps toward a brighter future," said Digos City Division Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) Maria Genevieve T. Francisquete, CESO VI.

ASDS Francisquete added that despite Digos City's strong achievement test performance, the division continues to pursue higher gains in reading and mathematics, with Brigada Eskwela helping advance that goal.

Beyond preparing school facilities, this year's Brigada Eskwela cast the spotlight on literacy education, reinforcing the division's efforts to improve reading and numeracy outcomes among learners.

School heads likewise mobilized volunteers and education partners in their respective communities to broaden support for interventions that promote learner achievement and school readiness.

Meanwhile, volunteers fanned out across participating schools to spruce up classrooms, restore facilities, and strengthen learning spaces that support effective teaching and learning.

Bannered by the theme “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” the kick-off hit the ground running with volunteers undertaking clean-up, repair, and maintenance activities across public schools ahead of the opening of classes on June 8.

Please support SDO’s Season 13’ Sikreto

“SIKRETO”
