All of us are praying and hoping for God to fulfill His promises. We long to experience His provision, healing, freedom, salvation, and the breakthroughs He gives.
At times, seeing others already enjoying the very things we are praying and believing for can make us desire them even more. We want them now. We want them immediately.
However, God sometimes allows delays.
In Genesis, when Abraham (then Abram) was seventy-five years old, God promised to make him into a great nation (Genesis 12:2). Yet having no son seemed to make that promise impossible. So Abraham brought his concern before God, and the Lord assured him that he would have a son of his ownโa son through whom the promise would begin to unfold (Genesis 15:4).
Still, Abraham waited twenty-five years before Isaac was born.
Those were long years of waiting. At one point, Sarah devised her own plan to help bring God's promise to pass.
Sometimes, we act like Sarah. Because we have received the vision and think we understand the process, we try to accomplish God's promises in our own way rather than allowing His will to unfold in His time. Yet taking matters into our own hands often leads to frustration and failure.
How, then, do we hold on to God's promises?
God instructed Abraham to look up at the stars and consider the countless grains of sand. Whether looking up in moments of joy or looking down in seasons of discouragement, the lesson remains the same: keep your eyes fixed on God's promises.
No matter how you feel or what circumstances surround you, continue to hold on to what God has spoken.
While waiting for God to fulfill His promises, allow your faith to mature.
Again in Genesis, God asked Abraham to offer his long-awaited son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. Yet instead of complaining or questioning, Abraham confidently declared God's provision.
In Genesis 22:8, when Isaac asked where the sacrificial lamb was, Abraham replied, "God Himself will provide the lamb."
What a powerful declaration of faith.
As the story unfolds, just as Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, the angel of the Lord stopped him. In Isaac's place, God provided a ram caught in a thicket.
God proved Himself faithful.
This reminds us that

Before the Israelites could enter the Promised Land, they first had to conquer Jericho. The city was protected by massive walls, and the Lord's instruction seemed unusual: march around the city for seven days.
God could have caused the walls to fall on the first day. He could have granted them immediate victory. Yet He chose a process that required patience and obedience.
This teaches us to wait while faithfully obeying God.
In time, the walls fell exactly as God promised.

Jesus on behalf of her daughter, who was severely demon-possessed. Desperate for help, she pleaded for mercy.
Though others tried to send her away, she remained persistent. Her faith did not waver.
Jesus saw her faith, commended her for it, and granted her request. Her daughter was healed.
From this account, we learn that Let your faith remain steadfast until He responds according to His perfect will and timing.
Brothers and sisters, do not be dismayed or discouraged when the promises you are holding on to have not yet been fully realized. Unlike men who may forget, break, or fail to keep their promises, God never does.

He may delay the promise to grow your faith, delay the provision to teach you dependence on Him, delay the victory to cultivate obedience, or delay the healing to reveal His power. Yet in every season of waiting, He is at work.
So while you wait, be patient and stand firm.
Be consistent in keeping His Word and promises in your heart.
Be consistent in declaring His promises over your life.
Be consistent in obeying His commands.
Be consistent in seeking Him through prayer.
Do not allow delay to weaken your faith. Instead, let it strengthen your trust in the One who never fails.

Five years of steadfast growth, grace, and God's faithfulness. What a remarkable testimony that when God is at the center, there is truly multiplicationโmultiplication of souls willing to serve the Lord and multiplication of blessings according to His glorious riches.
Indeed, God has been faithful every step of the way. Therefore, we give all the glory, honor, praise, and adoration to Him alone.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Marlon and Pastora Anamae Paglinawan, together with the entire DHLC Island Garden City of SAMAL family, for warmly accommodating us. It was a privilege to celebrate with you, and we look forward to visiting again. May God continue to bless you exceedingly and abundantly.

Spiritual progress is directly connected to our relationship with Christ. If we truly remain in Him, we will bear fruit. Our growth and effectiveness as believers are seen through that fruit. However, many Christians struggle to grow spiritually because certain hindrances block their connection to the Vine.

Genesis 19:26
โBut Lotโs wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.โ
1 John 2:16
โFor all that is in the worldโthe desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of lifeโis not from the Father but is from the world.โ
Lotโs wife looked back at S***m and became a pillar of salt because her heart was still attached to the world. This shows that worldly attraction is a barrier to obedience and spiritual direction.
1 John 2:16 explains that the world is full of lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life. These things draw believers away from God and hinder spiritual growth.
Nehemiah 4:10
โIn Judah it was said, โThe strength of those who bear the burdens is failing. There is too much rubble. By ourselves we will not be able to rebuild the wall.โโ
Deuteronomy 31:8
โIt is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.โ
Discouragement weakens spiritual growth. Like the people in Nehemiahโs time, believers can become tired due to opposition and criticism. When discouragement takes over, we may stop doing what God has called us to do. But Godโs promise reminds us that He is always with us. When we trust His presence, discouragement loses its power.

Hebrews 11:6
โAnd without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.โ
Unbelief blocks the work of God in a believerโs life. When we doubt Godโs promises, we limit what He can do through us. Faith is essential for spiritual growth, because without believing God fully, we cannot walk in obedience or receive His fullness.

Matthew 19:22
โWhen the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.โ
The rich young ruler walked away sorrowful because he had great possessions and was unwilling to let them go for Christ. This shows that attachment to wealth and material things can prevent full surrender to God.
Luke 9:59
โTo another He said, โFollow Me.โ But he said, โLord, let me first go and bury my father.โโ
In Luke 9, Jesus called a man to follow Him. The man isnโt rejecting Jesus outright but heโs postponing. The passage highlights how easy it is to intend to follow God someday, while always finding a reason not to start now.
It exposes hidden attachments.
Family here represents something good, not bad. Thatโs the point, itโs often good things that compete most strongly for first place in our lives.
Jesusโ response suggests that following Him requires absolute, uncompromising commitment even above the most sacred social duties like family.
Jesus isnโt condemning family. Heโs confronting the human habit of putting off what matters most by appealing to things that feel valid.
In conclusion,
Hebrews 12:1
โTherefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.โ
The Christian life is like a race. A runner removes anything that slows them down. In the same way, we must remove every hindrance that blocks our spiritual progress. If we are no longer connected to Christ, the True Vine, we will wither and spiritually die. We may still be physically alive in this world, but spiritually dead.
Why is spiritual growth important to God, and why does He prune us in the process?
It is because Godโs purpose for us is to bear much fruit.
John 15:2
โEvery branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.โ
God prunes us, not to harm us, but to help us grow. In our walk with Him, He removes things that hinder our growth and relationship with Him. And remember that pruning is a normal part of the Christian life because we are His beloved children.
