Today, we honor all our heroes—those whose names are etched in history and those who remain unsung. We remember the bravery of our forebears who fought for our freedom and the many who stand silently behind the scenes, shaping our nation with their quiet strength. But let us also celebrate the unsung heroes—the everyday people whose efforts often go unnoticed. The farmers who toil under the sun to feed us, the workers who keep our cities running, the parents who sacrifice for their families, and the countless others who give their all without expecting recognition.
We also pay tribute to our modern-day heroes: OFWs who work tirelessly abroad to support their families, teachers who shape the minds of our youth, healthcare workers who save lives, and many more who continue to inspire us with their dedication and selflessness. From the frontlines to the classrooms, from distant lands to our local communities, every hero, whether known or unknown, contributes to the strength and resilience that define our nation.

This year marks a significant milestone for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as it celebrates its 35th anniversary. IELTS, has been a key tool for proving English language ability since the late 1980s, with over 30 million tests taken to date. In 2023 alone, over 4 million tests were administered, and more than 12,500 organizations now recognize IELTS as a standard for English proficiency.
Pamela Baxter, Managing Director for IELTS at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, highlighted the test's role in setting students up for academic success, especially in higher education.
