Due to 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 caused by human activities, a 2017 study revealed that 𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 —which were formerly 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝’𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙧 now produce more carbon 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 they can absorb.
