Kiko cries for justice over Lapid killing

Former Opposition Senator Atty. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is crying for justice as he condemns the brazen killing of hard-hitting broadcast journalist/vlogger Percival Mabasa aka Percy Lapid who was shot dead in Las Piñas City on Monday evening.

“Nakikiramay tayo sa mga iniwang mahal sa buhay ni Percival Mabasa, na mas kilala bilang Percy Lapid. Mahigpit na yakap para sa kanyang maybahay na si Liza, mga anak, at mga kapatid, kabilang si Roy Mabasa na isa ring kilalang mamamahayag na nakatrabaho natin,” he says in a statement posted on his official social media accounts on Tuesday.

Pangilinan says he is “shocked, sad and angry” over the senseless murder of Mabasa stressing “ang pagpatay sa kanya ay pag-atake sa malayang pamamahayag sa ating bansa at isang malaking dagok sa demokrasya.”

He is calling on authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice as he vows that the fight for truth and battle against disinformation will linger on.

“Kinukundena natin ang pagpatay kay Percy at nananawagan tayo ng hustisya para sa kanya at sa naulilang pamilya, kaibigan, at kasama sa trabaho,” he says..

“Kung inaakala ng mga salarin ay mananahimik na lamang ang mga nasa hanay ng pakikipaglaban para sa katotohanan at pagtuligsa sa mga nagkakalat ng disinformation at kasinungalingan ay nagkakamali ang mga ito.”

Pangilinan says finding Lapid’s killers will show that government is really serious in putting the culprits behind bars.
