World Trivia

This Nutrition Month, let us take a moment to reflect on the importance of making healthy and responsible choices in our daily lives. Choosing nutritious food, reducing food waste, and keeping our surroundings clean are simple actions that contribute to our health and well-being.

With this year’s theme, “Sa PPAN, Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,” and sub-theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”, we are reminded that good nutrition and a healthy environment are closely connected.

As we continue to learn and grow, may we also develop habits that promote a healthier lifestyle and show care for the environment.

Let us make thoughtful choices—not only for ourselves, but also for the community and the generations to come.

Happy Nutrition Month 2026!

FIRST GRANDMASTER ♟️👑

Eugenio Torre made history in 1974 as Asia’s first chess grandmaster.

At 22 years old, Torre earned the title during the 21st Chess Olympiad in Nice, France, where he won a silver medal on Board One for the Philippine national team.

His achievement made him not only Asia’s first Grandmaster, but also the Philippines’ first chess Grandmaster—opening the door for generations of Filipino and Asian players to believe that they belonged on the global stage.

Throughout his career, Torre represented the Philippines in a record 23 Chess Olympiads.

In 1976, he defeated reigning world champion Anatoly Karpov in Manila—one of the most iconic victories in Philippine chess history.

In recognition of his lifelong contribution to the sport, Torre was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2021.

More than five decades after making history, GM Eugene Torre remains a symbol of Filipino excellence, discipline, and the power of believing that Asia can compete with the world.

Dominican School, Inc.- Sta. Rita joins the entire province in solemn commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the historic Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

More than just remembering a day of darkness, we pay tribute to the unmatched resilience, courage, and unyielding spirit of the Kapampangan people. Amidst the valleys of ash and years of daunting struggles, the people of Pampanga chose to rebuild, redefine, and rise stronger together.

As a community of faith, we honor this profound history of survival and celebrate the enduring light that continues to guide our province forward.
