POWER-OFF PROCEDURE DURING SEVERE WEATHER & FLOODING

Phase 1: Before the Flood (If Safety Permits)
Follow this exact sequence to isolate current and prevent dangerous arc flashes:

1. Turn OFF the Main AC Grid Breaker: Switch off the main AC breaker in your distribution box (DB panel) or the external AC isolator to disconnect grid power feed.✅

2. Turn OFF the Solis Integrated DC Switch: Locate the red/yellow rotary DC switch located on the bottom/side of the Solis inverter casing and rotate it to the OFF (0) position.✅

3. Turn OFF the External DC Isolator (If Installed): Switch off any additional external DC disconnect switches between the solar array and inverter.✅

4. Turn OFF Battery Disconnect (For Hybrid Solis Systems): If your Solis unit is connected to energy storage (e.g., Solis Hybrid series with lithium/lead-acid batteries), switch off the dedicated battery DC breaker or isolator switch.✅

5. Turn OFF Backup / Load Breakers: Turn off any Critical Load / Backup (EPS) circuit breakers connected to the inverter.✅

Phase 2: During the Flood

1. DO NOT Touch Equipment: Never touch or submerge hands/tools near the Solis inverter, battery bank, or connected wiring while standing in water or on damp ground.✅

2. Assume Solar Cables are LIVE: Solar panels (PV modules) generate lethal DC voltage as long as daylight is present, even if the Solis inverter is switched off or submerged.✅

3. Evacuate the Area: If floodwaters enter the inverter or battery room, evacuate immediately. Water mixed with mud or salt conducts high-voltage electricity rapidly.
Phase 3: After Floodwaters Recede
CRITICAL: Do NOT attempt to turn the Solis inverter or breakers back on immediately, even if the unit appears clean and dry on the outside.✅

1. Keep All Breakers OFF: Leave all AC, DC, and battery switches completely turned off.✅

2. DO NOT Wash the Inverter: Never use tap water, high-pressure hoses, or cleaning liquids to spray silt or mud off wet/damaged electronics.✅

3. Inspect for Physical Damage: Check from a safe distance for signs of mud line height, burnt terminals, or mechanical damage.✅

4. Call a Certified Technician for Testing: Have a qualified installer perform required safety checks before re-energizing:✅

o Insulation Resistance (Megger Test): To verify no DC ground faults or insulation breakdowns exist in the PV strings.✅

o Internal PCB & Component Inspection: Moisture trapped inside the inverter enclosure can cause catastrophic short circuits or component explosions when energized.✅

o Terminal & Cable Corrosion Check: Ensure no moisture or mud residue remains inside connection ports or MC4 connectors.✅

5. Inspect Battery Storage Separately: Flooded lithium batteries present a high risk of internal short circuits and delayed thermal runaway days or weeks after the event. They must be professionally inspected or replaced.✅

1.Shutdown Order (Before Flood):Follow strictly in order to avoid arc flashes.
1. Turn OFF Main AC Grid Breaker.
2. Turn OFF Solis DC Rotary Switch (OFF / 0).
3. Turn OFF Battery Breaker / Disconnect (if hybrid).
4. Turn OFF Backup / Critical Load Breakers.

2.Post-Flood Power Restoration: Mandatory safety verification.
1. Keep all AC and DC breakers OFF.
2. Do NOT hose down or spray water on equipment.
3. Require a certified technician to run a Megger / insulation test.
4. Only re-energize after receiving official technical clearance.

Perform a Emergency Shutdown (Rapid Shutdown):✅

Grid/AC Breaker: Switch off the main AC circuit breaker connecting the grid to the Deye inverter.✅

DC Disconnect / PV Isolator: Turn off the DC switch on the side/bottom of the Deye inverter or the external PV isolator to stop incoming power from the solar panels.✅

Battery Breaker: Switch off the circuit breaker or disconnect switch on your lithium or lead-acid battery bank.✅

Load/EPS Breaker: Switch off the breaker supplying power to your home load / back-up loads.✅

2.Disconnect Battery Cables (If Safe): If time and safety permit, disconnect the physical battery cables starting with the negative (-) terminal, assuming the system is completely switched off.✅

3. Protect or Elevate Equipment: If portable or low-mounted (such as ground-mounted batteries), move them to higher ground. Ensure the lower ports of wall-mounted Deye units are sealed if water level is expected to reach them.✅

Phase 2: During the Flood

1. DO NOT Touch the Inverter or System: Never submerge or touch any part of the Deye inverter, battery bank, or connected wiring while standing in water or wet ground.✅

2. Assume All Wires are Live: Solar panels (PV modules) generate DC voltage whenever there is daylight, even if the inverter is turned off or submerged. Submerged PV cables can electrify surrounding water.✅

3. Evacuate the Area: If floodwaters enter the room where the inverter, main switchboard, or batteries are installed, evacuate immediately and avoid contact with the water.✅

Phase 3: After the Floodwaters Recede

1.CRITICAL: Do NOT attempt to turn the Deye inverter, batteries, or solar breakers back on immediately after a flood, even if the unit appears dry on the outside.✅

2. Keep Power OFF: Leave all AC, DC, and battery breakers completely switched off.✅

3. Inspect for Damage visually from a safe distance: Check for visible signs of mud, silt, water intrusion inside the cabinet, or burnt/corroded terminals.✅
Do NOT Wash Internal Components: Do not use tap water, pressure washers, or liquid cleaners to wash silt or mud off the inverter or batteries.✅
Call a Certified Solar Technician / Electrician:✅

Have a licensed professional inspect the internal circuit boards (PCB), insulation resistance (Megger test), and terminal connections.✅

Internal components (capacitors, relays, microcontrollers) damaged by water can short-circuit or catch fire when re-energized.✅

5.Inspect the Battery System Separately: Lithium batteries exposed to floodwaters pose a high risk of internal short circuits and thermal runaway days or weeks after the flood. They must be professionally tested or replaced.✅

6. Check Grounding (Earthing): Ensure the earthing system and surge protection devices (SPDs) were not damaged or displaced by water movement.✅
