JHS NEWS | Asynchronous Learning Set for BEd on July 10 Due to volcanic ashfall

July 10, 2026 — In compliance with the advisory issued by the Cebu City Government, the University of San Jose–Recoletos Junior High School Department will implement asynchronous classes on July 10, 2026, following the continued effects of the volcanic ashfall from the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.

July 9, 2026 — In accordance with the advisory issued by the Cebu City Government, classes in the University of San Jose–Recoletos Junior High School Department are suspended starting at 12:00 nn due to the volcanic ashfall resulting from the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.

The suspension is implemented as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of all students, faculty, and personnel.

Students and parents are advised to remain indoors whenever possible, wear face masks when going outside, and continue monitoring official University announcements regarding the resumption of classes and other academic concerns.

Please stay safe, and let us continue to pray for the protection of everyone affected by the volcanic activity.

Last Sunday, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝙐𝙎𝙅-𝙍 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 came together in faith and community. The day commenced with the celebration of the Holy Mass, centering our hearts and minds before moving into our deeply informative and impactful 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣.

We are thrilled by the incredible turnout and the shared commitment of our parent community to keep our children safe and thriving!

This event was made possible through a wonderful partnership with 𝗥𝗲𝘅 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 and the incredible collaboration of both 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

Atty. Estrada beautifully navigated the legalities and realities of school policies, helping us understand how discipline and protection go hand-in-hand to create a secure learning environment for our children.

This event was a beautiful testament to what we can achieve when we work together. A massive thank you to Rex Bookstore for their invaluable support, and to both the Elementary and Junior High School Departments for the seamless teamwork.

As a 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, protecting and disciplining our children allows us to live out our core values. Dear Parents, please read through this quick checklist for tomorrow’s Edu-Parenting seminar to make sure you don't miss any updates:

* ⏰ 𝟳:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 – Registration opens (Please arrive early to sign in at the P.E. lobby right side of the coliseum). Claim Snack stub and exit pass.

* ⛪ 𝟴:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 – Holy Mass begins

* ☕ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 – A short break will follow right after the Mass

* 🧠 𝗘𝗱𝘂-𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻– Starts immediately after the health break

The Elementary and Junior High School (JHS) Departments of the University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus will hold an Edu-Parenting Session on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the USJ-R Basak Campus Coliseum.
The session, themed "Child's Safety First: The School's Protection & Discipline Policy Explained for Parents," aims to strengthen the partnership between the school and parents by providing a clearer understanding of the institution's child protection and discipline policies. Atty. Joseph Noel M. Estrada will serve as the resource speaker for the event.
𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 - 𝑱𝑼𝑳𝒀 𝟔- 𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑻 𝑫𝑨𝒀-𝑵𝑶 𝑪𝑳𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑬𝑺 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝑱𝑯𝑺 𝑫𝑬𝑷𝑻
All Junior High School parents are required to attend the Edu-Parenting Session. The school announced that a parent's attendance will be credited as the student's attendance for Monday, July 6, 2026. Consequently, the JHS Department will not conduct academic classes on that day, as it has been designated as a Rest Day for all Junior High School students.

Meanwhile, all Junior High School students are required to report to school on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, for the administration of the GRACE Assessment Pre-Test. Students are advised to bring Mongol No. 2 pencils and arrive on time to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the assessment.

PARKING ADVISORY | EduParenting 2026

We are excited to welcome our parents and guardians to EduParenting 2026, a joint initiative of the USJ-R Elementary Department, USJ-R Junior High School Department, Jpto Usjr Basak Campus, and USJ-R BASAK JHS PTA.

As this event brings together families from both departments, a significantly larger number of attendees is expected. To ensure a smooth and stress-free arrival, we encourage everyone to arrive as early as possible.

🕖 Registration starts at 7:00 a.m.
🚘 Parking is available on a first come, first served basis at the Soccer Field and Main Parking Lot.

Planning to arrive early will give you ample time to park, register, and settle in before the program begins.
