Stepping into history

In 2004, Brian McFadden left Westlife. He was one of the original members of the Irish boy band.

In various interviews , the remaining four members - Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne have expressed their shock, sadness and disappointment when Brian left the group. They have also stated that they initially struggled to cope with the change and had to adjust to performing as a four-piece band.

However, they have also acknowledged that Brian's departure ultimately led to a renewed focus and energy within the group, and they went on to achieve even greater success in the years that followed.

Nicky Byrne is a talented Irish singer, songwriter, and radio and television presenter, best known as a member of the popular boy band Westlife.¹ Born on October 9, 1978, in Dublin, Ireland, Byrne's music career spans over two decades, with 14 UK number-one singles and seven number-one albums.²

Before his music career took off, Byrne was a professional soccer player, representing the Republic of Ireland at several underage levels. He even played for Leeds United as a goalkeeper in 1995.

As a member of Westlife, Byrne has co-written several songs, including "Nothing Is Impossible," "Don't Let Me Go," and "When You Come Around". The band has sold over 40 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful Irish boy bands of all time.

Byrne has also had a successful solo career, releasing his own music and presenting various TV and radio shows. He even represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with his song "Sunlight".

In his personal life, Byrne is married to Georgina Ahern, the daughter of former Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, and they have three children together.
