In a heartwarming effort to promote inclusivity, learning, and community engagement, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC), together with various student organizations, successfully conducted the outreach program entitled โHAPPY THINKERS: PLAY, LEARN, AND GROW โ An Outreach Program for PWD Children and Parentsโ on May 29, 2026, at Tagnipa Gym.
The activity gathered PWD children, their parents, student leaders, and volunteers from different campus organizations, including the Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines SLSU-MCC Chapter (JSWAP), Circle of Public Administration Students (CPAS), PULSE Publication, Appointed Representatives of MCC Youth (ARMY), Peer Facilitatorโs Circle, and the incoming SSC officers.
The program commenced with an energetic zumba dance session, encouraging participants to engage in physical activity while fostering a fun and welcoming atmosphere. This was followed by a series of interactive games that brought excitement and laughter among the children and their families.
To further uplift the participants, snacks were distributed, providing an opportunity for everyone to share moments of joy and fellowship. The event also featured the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to recognize the contributions and support of individuals and organizations that helped make the outreach program possible.
Through meaningful activities and community involvement, the outreach program highlighted the importance of creating inclusive spaces where children with disabilities can freely participate, learn, and enjoy experiences that contribute to their growth and well-being.
The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by SSC Vice President Hon. Merry Genesis Cantones, who expressed gratitude to all participating organizations, volunteers, parents, and children for their active involvement and support in making the initiative a success.
The outreach program served as a testament to the commitment of SLSU-MCC student leaders and organizations in promoting compassion, inclusivity, and service to the community, leaving smiles on the faces of both the children and their families.

In the name of teamwork, collaboration, and connection, selected representatives from various student organizations of Southern Leyte State UniversityโMaasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC), under the initiative of the Supreme Student Council (SSC), gathered on June 5, 2026, at Banahaw Spring, Macrohon, Southern Leyte, for a leadership and team-building activity.
Themed โBridging Leadership: Building Unity Across Generations,โ this was actively participated by the Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines SLSU-MCC Chapter (JSWAP), Circle of Public Administration Students (CPAS), Pulse Publication, Appointed Representatives of MCC Youth (ARMY), Peer Facilitatorโs Circle, and the Incoming SSC Officers.
Spearheaded by the Federation of Supreme Student Council(FSSC) and SSC President, Hon. Ryan Christopher Escaner, and SSC Adviser Ms. Trisha Mae B. Llagas, RSW, the year-end splash featured the presentation of each organizationโs Calendar of Activities. During the session, the SSC Adviser, Ms. Llagas alongside with the incumbent SSC Officers shared their feedback for the activities and projects lined up for each organizations. Highlighting the importance of connection and partnerships, each organization who had relatively similar activites were encouraged to collaborate.
The second part of the activity featured a โHuman Bingoโ game which aimed to let each members of every organization know each other. Later on, the student leadersโ collaborative and leadership skills were at test as they faced a challenge comprised of five (5) stations featuring mini-games to play that require teamwork and riddles to solveโ a fun way to enhance their skills.
The activity ended with the SSC Vice President, Hon. Merry Genesis Cantones extending her heartfelt gratitude for the particicipants. The student leaders spent the rest of the day enjoying the cold spring of banahaw; enjoying the connection that they had made with each other and went home carrying the values and enhanced skills within themselvesโ indicating success of the said activity.

โTo officially welcome its newest batch of first-year students, Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) successfully rolled out its centralized One-Stop Shop enrollment system on June 3, 2026.

โThe initiative, managed by the Office of the Student Engagement and Support Services (SESS), was designed to bring all essential front-line administrative services together, into one accessible location, offering incoming Mighty Kingfishers a fast, smooth, and hassle-free admission experience.
โ
โThe implementation follows Memorandum Order No. 15, Series of 2026, issued by SESS Head, Aster Lynn P. Reoma, and noted by Campus Director, Dr. Frederick C. Aniga. The order mobilized a well-coordinated team of university personnel to handle the incoming enrollees.
โ
โKey campus units actively participated in the said initiative including the SESS staff, Miss Maristela Cardoza; the Campus Information Systems, and Analytics (CISA), represented by Mr. Florito Cortel; the Free Higher Education (FHE) Focal Person, represented by Miss Jeanette Gil; and the Cashierโs Office, represented by Miss Mariella Romariz, were seen present.

โTo ensure the welfare of the students, Campus Nurse Aurora C. Abadiano, RN, was stationed on standby to manage medical clearances and health safety requirements. Meanwhile, faculty and staff from the program departments were on the ground to directly assist enrollees entering the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), represented by Miss Zendra Dayola, and the Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA), represented by Mister Jorge Garces. Campus Registrar Engr. Maria Dulce S. Gonzalez supervised the submission and verification, ensuring document processing moved efficiently.

โThe initiative of breaking down institutional bottlenecks and grouping vital student services into a single hub, ensures that the institution continues to prioritize student-centered care and operational excellence even during the enrollment processes. This provides a warm and highly organized welcome for the incoming freshmen, which eveidently signifies how students are always taken care of.

At the Maasin City Gym, emotions filled the air as the 146 graduates of Southern Leyte State UniversityโMaasin City Campus shared heartfelt moments with their parents and guardians before the start of the 24th Commencement Exercises. Smiles reflected pride, tears spoke of sacrifices, and warm embraces conveyed gratitude for the unwavering support that made this achievement possible.
As they awaited their turn to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas, each graduate carried not only years of hard work and dedication but also the hopes and dreams of their families. This memorable moment stands as a testament to perseverance, resilience, and the collective journey that brought them to this significant chapter of their lives.
