Dental students from various institutions, including participants from Ago Medical and Educational Center (AMEC-BCCM), gathered for the Dental Student Congress 2026, a meaningful academic event that promoted innovation, clinical excellence, and professional growth in dentistry.
Organized as part of the 117th Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions, the congress provided students with valuable opportunities to expand their knowledge, engage with experts, and strengthen connections within the dental community. The event was held on May 15, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
The congress featured three insightful lectures from distinguished dental professionals. The Dean Diampio J. Lim Memorial Lecture by Dr. Gary V. Brillo focused on โPattern Recognition in Oral Lesions: An Evidence-Based Approach,โ emphasizing accurate diagnosis in oral healthcare. This was followed by Dr. Marie Antoniette R. Veluzโs discussion on โThe New Technology of Active Prevention in Perio,โ which highlighted modern advancements in periodontal care. The final lecture, โLearn to Unlearn & Relearn,โ delivered by Dr. Manuel V. Vallesteros, encouraged students to embrace adaptability and lifelong learning in the evolving field of dentistry.
In the afternoon, participants explored interactive table clinics featuring clinical demonstrations, exhibits, and discussions that enhanced practical understanding and exposure to current dental innovations. The event concluded with a fellowship program that fostered camaraderie, networking, and shared experiences among students and professionals. More than an academic gathering, the Dental Student Congress 2026 became a platform that inspired future dentists to pursue excellence, continuous learning, and meaningful service in the profession.
