In a world where everyone is trying to play faster, louder, and more complicated, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply hold the pocket and let the music breathe. Chops can show what you can play, but groove shows how you make people feel.

Know when to fill. Know when to leave space. Know when to let that one hit speak for itself. Because at the end of the day, great drumming isn’t always about how much you can play—it’s about how well you can serve the song, lock with the music, and keep the GROOV alive.

Play with purpose. Stay in the pocket. Keep your GROOV. 🥁🔥

Today, we remember Makoy Portado, a fellow musician whose journey reminds us of the bond that connects everyone in the music community.

As musicians, we know that a song eventually ends, but the sound, memories, and influence we leave behind can continue to resonate. Every beat played, every stage shared, and every piece of music created becomes part of something bigger than ourselves.

Our deepest condolences to Makoy’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and making music with him.

May his music continue to echo through the community, and may his memory remain in every beat that follows.

Rest in peace, Makoy. 🕊️🎶
The music stops, but the rhythm lives on.
