BUCE is conducting an Orientation on Literacy and Capacity Building Program for Gabawan Elementary School at Gabawan, Albay.

This is being participated in by 17 teachers of GES, and 30 parents. The District Supervisor of Daraga South District, Dr. Marilyn Madrideo and the dean of BUCE, Dr. Lorna M. Mina, graced the event. The LGU Gabawan also attended the event, represented by Kgd. Edwin Acerado, the kagawad on education and Kgd. Imelda Clemente, the kagawad on health.

The project has 3 studies/components: 1. Effective of Phonetic Activities in the Development of Reading, 2. Capability Enhancement Program for Teachers, 3. Functional Literacy Program for Mothers of Gabawan.

Training on Curriculum Quality Audit at Catanduanes State University

The Bicol University College of Education, headed by its dean, Dr. Lorna M. Miña is at present conducting a training on Curriculum Quality Audit to the faculty of the College of Education of Catanduanes State University, Virac, Catanduanes. The training will run for two days, May 16 and 17, 2019.

BUCE initiates this activity, mindful of its role as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education; that is, to lead and assist other TEI's at least in the region, inthe pursuit of quality teacher education. Included in training team are Dr. Rosana Madrona and Prof. Maria Cecilia P. Aguilar.

The objectives of the activity are:
1. To familiarize the participants with the Currculum Quality Audit and its processes and importance in curriculum development;
2. To familiarize the participants with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers; with emphasis on its domains, strands, and the Beginning Teacher Indicators;
3. To capacitate the participants with the skills on the processes of Curriculum Audit.
