The Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) UP Cebu and the Materials Innovation and Exploration Center (MATIX UP Cebu) are looking for a 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 to join our team as an Administrative Staff.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

Design education at UP Cebu began in 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟱 with the offering of the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 degree. The Design Program shares its beginnings with the Fine Arts Program, which was established in 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟱 as the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮—founded with the support of National Artist Jose T. Joya and UP Fine Arts alumni Martino Abellana and Julian Jumalon. Since its inception, the Design Program has played a vital role in shaping 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻. It currently offers both 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿’𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, with a curriculum that spans 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.

Day 3 of Desinyo brought the event to a close as third year students presented their final design pitches, showcasing capstone project they developed throughout their social design subject. Discussions and talks emphasized the role of design in responding to real-world needs and challenges. The awarding ceremony recognized projects that stood out for their creativity, research, and ex*****on, marking the end of a meaningful experience in learning, collaboration, and design practice.

From concept to catwalk, the third year product design students of UP Cebu highlighted the artistry and intention behind contemporary fashion.

The show celebrated design as a medium for expression, inviting audiences to look beyond the surface and into the stories stitched within each creation.

Celebrating design futures and transforming worlds, the Mundo Design Awards spotlight the next generation of creative thinkers and changemakers.
