The title Jehovah-Jireh was first recorded in Genesis 22:14, where Abraham named the place in gratitude for God’s provision of a substitute sacrifice.

Although God had previously blessed Abraham with riches, land, and even his long-awaited son, it was in the moment of divine intervention—when God provided a ram in place of Isaac—that Abraham recognized Him as Jehovah-Jireh, “The Lord Will Provide.”

This reveals that God’s ultimate provision is not merely in material blessings but in His saving power.
