Light For The Amazon
Established to build a sustainable relationship with the Amazonian Rainforest. 501(c)(3)
We took a walk into the forest with Rolando Nina, an indigenous leader from the Yaguas tribe and expert of medicinal plants of the Amazon Rainforest. He has been sharing his ancestral knowledge as an educator with Light for the Amazon. Last year he taught our students in Santa Maria de Ojeal about the medicinal properties of the plants of their forest.
Happy Holidays from Light for the Amazon and thank you for all the support in bringing a joyful Holiday Celebration to the children in Santa Maria de Ojeal

Today’s class was focused on the medicinal plants of the rainforest. Rolando Nina, an indigenous expert came to share his ancestral knowledge of healing with nature. He was assisted for the classes by our program coordinator Pedro Golber Ramirez and by Asia who has been generously volunteering to support our students. The class is part of our education program Guardians of the Amazon, in partnership with the schools in Santa Maria de Ojeal.

Today our student had another great opportunity to learn from Rolando Nina, an indigenous expert of medicinal plants. Our coordinator and volunteers helped with the dynamic process of sharing the knowledge by employing art activities and moments of conversation with the students. We are so happy to see these wonderful moments, when students reconnect with nature and their history of their knowledge

♻️ Recycling and reusing are key to protecting our planet. We can make a big difference by recycling paper, plastic, and glass, and creatively reusing materials. Every small action counts. Together, we can create a more sustainable future.
As part of our *Guardians of the Amazon* education program, we created an art project using plastic materials collected by the students. 🌿✨
Let’s recycle and reuse today for a better tomorrow! 💚

🌱 This week in Santa María de Ojeal, we held the second class of our second module on Amazon Fauna, focusing on the ecological importance of plants.
The children explored how plants contribute to the balance of the ecosystem and how they interact with other living beings in their environment. From providing food and shelter to regulating the climate and supporting biodiversity, plants play a vital role in sustaining life in the rainforest.
This class was led by amazing volunteers—students from UNAP (Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana)—who shared their knowledge with the students . Thank you for your contribution
We’re proud to continue building bridges between education, community, and conservation with our program Guardians of the Amazon.
