It was with great honour that at today's game we announced Bob Barrell as the new Patron of the Whanganui Rugby Football Union.

With 139 appearances and a record 980 points for the province between 1963 and 1977, Bob’s contribution to the blue and black jersey holds a special place in our history.

His appointment recognises a lifetime of connection to Whanganui rugby, linking the players who helped shape our proud traditions with those carrying them forward today.

Congratulations, Bob, and thank you for your enduring contribution to our rugby community. 💙🖤
