🎉 WE DID IT! WE’RE OVER THE LINE! 🎉
After months of fundraising, planning, community support and plenty of hard work, we can finally say it…
OUR TURF DREAM IS BECOMING A REALITY!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Temuka Area Community Fund, administered by the Aoraki Foundation, has awarded our Wi******er Rural School Turf Project $8,000!
And what makes this even more special? We are incredibly proud to be the very first recipient of a grant from the Temuka Area Community Fund. ❤️❤️❤️
This incredible funding has been the boost that has got us over the line, enabling us to finally proceed with installation of our new all-weather multisport turf. 👏
What started as a big idea for our school and community is now becoming a reality.
A massive THANK YOU to the Temuka Area Community Fund and Aoraki Foundation for believing in our project and helping make this happen.
The support from our school and wider community has been incredible. So many people have jumped on board, backed the project and shown us just how much this turf means to our community. It has been a huge vote of confidence in what we’re trying to achieve and we couldn’t be more grateful.
And to everyone who has helped us get to this point- thank you. Getting here has taken a huge community effort, from PTA fundraising, business sponsorships, personal donations and grants to the countless hours of time and energy so many people have put in to make our turf dream a reality. 🙌
WE DID IT! 🎉
Now… let’s get this turf built!

SECONDHAND SEPTEMBER IS COMING! ♻️
*Okay 2 late August events snuck into the calendar 🤫
This September, we’re getting behind Secondhand September and encouraging our community to pause before buying new and see what you can find secondhand first!
Why? Because keeping things in circulation means less waste, fewer resources used to make new stuff, and more money staying in our pockets.
We’ve pulled together a South Canterbury Secondhand September Community Calendar featuring markets, repairs and talks.
We are also working on updating the secondhand trail directory! Did you know there are many people in our community that do the "rounds" for fun!
👉 See the full calendar and event details on our website: https://scecocentre.org.nz/events/secondhand-september-community-calendar-1/
If you’re running a secondhand, reuse, repair or upcycling event that isn’t on the calendar - get in touch! We’d love to add it.
🌿 Let’s see what we can build together. Secondhand September 2026 might just be the beginning!
