From today Canterbury has replaced the red, orange and yellow with a single blue tsunami evacuation zone.

The change is designed to make tsunami evacuation messaging simpler and easier to understand.

If you feel a long or strong earthquake that goes for more than a minute, or makes it hard to stand, evacuate immediately to higher ground or inland so that you are out of the blue tsunami evacuation zone. Do not wait for an official warning or an emergency mobile alert.

That’s a wrap on the South Canterbury U16’s 2026 season. Great to finish off with a win against Ellesmere yesterday claiming 7th.

A big thank you to Dale, Anam, Mike, Katrina and Brett, supporters and everyone who played their part throughout the season. Your time, effort and commitment have been hugely appreciated.
