Fixed Term (Term 1 & 2) Teacher Aide Position (20-25 hours per week)

We are looking for a Teacher Aide to join our team at Barton Rural School from the beginning of 2026. There is the possibility that this position may be extended through the year.
The role will be working with an individual student with possibly some small group work.
We are looking for someone who will thrive in a team environment, have a passion for working with students and be committed to participating in professional learning opportunities. You will need to have strengths in building relationships and have the ability to provide firm boundaries.
The successful applicant will also need to successfully pass a NZ Police Vet check.

OUT OF ZONE PLACEMENTS FOR 2026
The Board of Trustees invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their child at Barton Rural School for 2026.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available on the school website.
The Board has determined that 17 places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students throughout next year, with preferences given to those in Years 1, 3, 5 and 6.
The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
Next year there will be two enrolment periods. The first enrolment period is for Terms 1 and 2 with the deadline for receipt of applications for this period being Wednesday 8th October 2025. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, a ballot will be held on 10th October 2025. Parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.
The second enrolment period will be for Terms 3 and 4 with the deadline for receipt of applications being Monday 1st June 2026 and, if needed, a ballot will be held on Wednesday 3rd June 2026.

Parents of students who live within the enrolment zone and intend on enrolling their child at any time during 2026 and have not completed an enrolment form, should notify the school as soon as possible to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year.

The Board has determined that 14 places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students throughout next year, with preference given to those applications who fit the preference criteria and then in Years 2 to 8.
The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
Next year there will be two enrolment intakes. The first enrolment period is from Wednesday 29th January 2025 through to Friday 27th June 2025 with the deadline for receipt of applications for this period being 15th October 2024. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, a ballot will be held on 22nd October 2024. Parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.
The second enrolment period will be from 14th July 2025 to December 2025 with details to follow later in the year.

Applications close on Monday 1st July and if needed, a ballot will be held on 2nd July.

On Friday, Roy Rose from Fern Energy presented the school with $1000 worth of headphones for which we are extremely grateful!

These will be used throughout the middle and senior school.

Barton Rural has received these goods because our school has been nominated by a local business/farm that receives bulk fuel deliveries from Fern. Every 1000 litres of bulk fuel they purchase, $5 is donated to their nominated school - which is us!
