4 facts about New Zealand’s Kea birds (The world’s only alpine parrot) 👇
1. How smart are they?
Kea are among the smartest birds in the world. Tests show their problem-solving skills match those of monkeys and young children.
2. Why do they destroy cars and gear? To a kea, investigating an object and tearing it apart are the exact same behavior. Their intense curiosity leads them to strip rubber seals off cars and pull apart backpacks.
3. Where do they live? They are the world’s only alpine parrot, found exclusively in the rugged mountain and forest regions of New Zealand’s South Island.
IMPORTANT #4. Why should you not feed them?Feeding kea draws them to roads and parking lots where they get hit by cars or get really sick from human food. Don’t feed the Keas 🙅🙅♀️

If there’s one place you should consider staying for a full day. It’s Hahei beach 🐚
Believe us when we say this was the most captivating location on our recent adventure.
Just 2.5 hours from Auckland, it’s an incredible place to unwind, especially with a stay at Tasman Holiday Parks - Hahei Beach.
We highly recommend grabbing a camp chair, finding a spot by the water, and settling in for the sunset.
