Just launched. A comprehensive 12 week training schedule to take the guesswork out of your training and provide you with the structure required to complete the Hunua Hillbilly - Ultramarathon. The volume of the programme ranges from 7 - 12 hours of training per week. Programme starts August 16. Cost $60. $40 from every programme will go directly to the Friends of Hunua Ranges so that they can continue to support and protect the Hunua Ranges. Question: I am training for the The Wuu-2k Trail Marathon, and Ultra-Marathon. Can you give me an idea of what is in the programme and also the time commitment?
Answer: Each programmes includes lots of variety including cross training, hill specific workouts and regular testing, providing all of the training that you need to successfully complete The Wuu-2k Trail Marathon, and Ultra-Marathon.
The 43km Trail Marathon programme 6-10 hours of training per week (incl. cross training).
The 62km Trail Ultra-Marathon programme 8-12 hours of training per week (incl. cross training).
The 21km Trail Half-Marathon programme 4-6 hours of training per week (incl. cross training).

Question: I ran the 10km at Round the Bays recently in 50mins. As a RERE Test that would make my threshold pace 5:00min/km. Do I then read across the Intensity Table to work out my pace zones?
Answer: Yes that is exactly right. Equally if you have recorded heart rate from Round the Bays, then take your average as the threshold and read across the Intensity Table to work out your training intensities.
Ideally, then you can use pace, heart rate and relative perceived exertion in conjunction with each other to monitor your training intensity.
