❣️ Adopted ✨️

"We've been looking to bring a third dog into our wee pack for a while now.

Any new dog had to be able to fit in with our crew, get along with our cats and not bark at our cattle!

After a rough year in which we lost both of our beautiful 11 year old staffy-x girls Shiva & Seula, we adopted Nina from Pound Paws in early 2025, and then Molly through Retired Working Dogs later that year.

To be the right fit we needed a dog that was chill enough to hang out with our nervous Molly. And also a dog that could be ok with Nina's crazy, non-stop energy.

We started seeing posts on Pound Paws' page about a litter of French Mastiff/Huntaway pups. When we saw they'd be at Animates Timaru a few weeks ago we decided we had to go along to meet them. They were all big, gorgeous, roly poly puppies. But there was something about Mack!! He had apparently taken an instant liking to my husband - sitting calmly for pats for a few minutes then returning to play with his siblings, then back again for pats.

We were already smitten.

Then, when we met Mack again, with his wonderful foster Mum Paula, I said hello, he looked up, let out a wee bark, and came running straight over for pats. The rest, as they say, is history!

A couple of weeks on and Mack is now Kodi. He's settling in so well, sleeps in his crate overnight without a peep (as long as you don't count his snoring!!), knows to go outside for the toilet, already had 'sit' and 'down' mostly sorted and doesn't chase the cats (we're hoping he can teach Nina this particular trick !). The cattle are a work in process...

Thank you to Pound Paws and to Paula - he's an absolute delight and we're in love with him already. Welcome home Kodi."

Thank you for adopting! Happy trails. 👣🐾💓

Posting on behalf of - not in our care.

Information we have been given:

"Stella is very sweet and full of energy. She’s a 17 month old Kelpie cross, spayed, fully vaccinated, chipped. Located Timaru.

Looking for an active home that can give her lots of time and space to play, provide lots of fun outings and mental enrichment. Also having patience and calm handling to train her more. She knows how to sit, come, fetch, wait to eat.

Stella is timid at first when meeting new people. Needs to be given time to come to you, when she is ready. Once she gets to know you, she is the most loving dog who enjoys late night cuddles and plenty of treats, including fruit and vegetables (especially carrots). Stella always gets super excited when you come home from work or a simple outing. She’s also very used to both farm and residential activities/noises. She doesn’t chase after chickens, sheep or birds but will run away from cattle.

Stella plays well with other dogs, although can get jealous if you're playing with another dog, she’s gentle with children but doesn’t quite get along with cats (lived with cats previously but needed further training to learn to leave them alone/respect their cues when she wanted to play).

Stella loves her long walks, occasionally stopping to sniff, she isn’t bothered by animals or people walking past her as she more interested in carrying on the walk. House trained and sleeps inside. Requires 6ft fencing/gates.

Overall, Stella is a loving dog who will form a forever bond with the right person."

If interested, please message us about your home and why you think Stella may be a good match for you. We have an application form, property visit and vet history check to carry out.
