Yesterday, when we received the vet call about Bean needing urgent help, we were feeling really uncertain as our resources were already stretched so thin.

We are very relieved and grateful to Karen and Chelsea from The Leroy Legacy for covering the full cost of Bean's surgery today. We truly could not have done this without them. What a wonderful way to honour and remember the very special, brave, sweet-natured rescued dog, Leroy. ❣️

Thanks also to all of the lovely people who reached out and offered to foster Bean. We are happy to share that she will be going into her foster home on Saturday. On top of that, we received a wonderfully generous donation of a crate and Royal Canin Mobility food for her recovery — thank you so much!

Finally, a huge thank you to the wonderful team at Veterinary Centre Timaru by the Big Blue Cross for taking such great care of Bean. 🌞

Located Timaru - Suitable Foster Carer Needed ASAP

Bean is a 3-year-old, 20ish kg female Beardie. She has injured her knee after being caught up in a fence. Likely diagnosis is a cruciate rupture, possible multiple ligaments affected. She will need 3 months of quiet recovery with careful gradual increased activity.

If you have experience with post surgery care & someone home for at least part of the day, please get in touch ASAP. We'll supply food, medical, anything she needs. Ideally Timaru, other options considered. Thank you.

* Update - Indy is going well. Her 5 siblings had another check over, some are sore / have crepitus upon exam. 😖 They are going back in on Friday for x-rays and likely JPS surgery.

Indy had another check over today and x-rays. Unfortunately, she needs JPS surgery (today).
Indy is 12 weeks old on Wednesday. The window for JPS surgery closes at 16 weeks old.

We currently have several pups/dogs aged from 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 1 year, 2 years & up to 6 years old with hip dysplasia.

It's SO OFTEN MISSED and SO OFTEN CAUSES BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES as the poor dog IS IN PAIN! It's different with every dog, for example Annie has an obvious wonky gait, she has hip dysplasia but at this stage, she is not painful. She is on Royal Canin Mobility and 4CYTE.

Indy's 5 siblings will be going in for another thorough check over this week.

It's an ongoing uphill battle. We are doing our best, but it's coming as a huge financial burden. But they are worth it. Please support our fundraising efforts so that we can continue our work. Thank you.
