R2K and Mainland Interprovincial Regatta
Our R2K squad had a great morning of rowing for heats and finals on Saturday morning in beautiful conditions - until the final race of the day where the wind came up and the race was cancelled, Matilda's final!! Special congratulations to Matilda on winning silver in the u15 single sculls based on her fantastic results in the heat earlier in the day!! Matilda was away to race her final when the Interprovincial group photo was taken (below) - winning a silver medal was a good reason for absence!
The Mainland Interprovincial Regatta began after the R2K conclusion as planned, but the weather did not come to the party sadly. Paddy Spillane was the only one of our Oamaru rowers to row in a heat on Saturday afternoon before the regatta was called off due to wind. The regatta was officially cancelled before starting on Sunday morning, due to rain and potential snowfalls.
That's spring rowing for us!
R2K Squad 2026:
Logan Docherty (Coach), Paddy Spillane, Jakob Rohrbach, Matilda Isbister, Bridget Spittle, Indeg Jones-Hogan.
Interprovincial Squad 2026:
Jakob Rohrbach, Stuart Isbister, Jacob Harrison, Paddy Spillane, Ralph Henderson, Bridget Spittle, Payton Dickson, Matilda Isbister.
An exciting weekend of racing is ahead as the season’s first regattas get underway!
We wish our single scullers all the very best as they compete in the R2K Regatta at Lake Ruataniwha on Saturday morning: Indeg Jones-Hogan, Matilda Isbister, Jakob Rohrbach, and Bridget Spittle.
At the conclusion of the R2K Regatta, Jakob, Matilda and Bridget will compete with the Otago squad at the Mainland Interprovincial Regatta. They will be joined at the regatta by Payton Dickson, Stuart Isbister, Paddy Spillane, Jacob Harrison (also rowing for Otago) and Ralph Henderson (who will proudly wear the Canterbury colours).
Our own Logan Docherty is coaching Otago this year!
With Stuart, Paddy, and Ralph now at university, it is especially wonderful to see the team reunited for such a memorable weekend of racing.
This is the largest contingent of Oamaru rowers to compete at the Interprovincials, and we could not be prouder of every athlete and the dedication that has brought them to this point. Please join us in cheering them on and showing them plenty of support throughout the weekend.
Go well, team—we will be proudly following every race!

We had a great open day today, despite the weather, and were thrilled to see so many new faces and returning rowers. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Training starts tomorrow, Monday 7th September, 4pm to 6pm, and will be Monday to Thursday evenings unless otherwise stated.
Any new rowers that were unable to attend today are very welcome to come along.
Please always bring sneakers and a warm top for trainings - we may be in the gym, or on the water, this is weather dependant. Please also make sure you have had some afternoon tea so that you are fueled ready for training.
If you haven't registered today, please see Anna or Tracey tomorrow afternoon when you arrive.
