🐾 Reading to Dogs is Back for Term 4! 📖🐶

We're excited to welcome back our much-loved Reading to Dogs programme for another term at Taradale Library!

Our readers who joined us last term had a fantastic time building their confidence, sharing stories, and reading to our wonderful furry friends. There were plenty of smiles, wagging tails, and great books along the way! 🐕❤️

Reading to Dogs gives tamariki and teens aged 5-17 years the opportunity to read aloud to gentle therapy dogs in a calm, supportive, and pressure-free environment. Whether your child is a reluctant reader, building confidence, or already loves books, our four-legged listeners are always happy to hear a story.

🐾 Build reading confidence
📚 Strengthen literacy skills
🐶 Read to a friendly therapy dog
🎉 Earn stamps and receive a special reward after three sessions

A huge thank you to Canine Friends Pet Therapy - New Zealand for their ongoing support and for helping make this popular programme possible.

👀Look who's been monster making!👹

Our pool noodle monsters have been let loose... and they are AMAZING!

We've had some very creative monster-makers bring their creations into the library and send us photos of their fantastic creations. We've seen LOTS of eyes, wild antennas, fabulous faces, and some wonderfully weird monster features! There's definitely no such thing as a "normal" monster - and that's exactly how we like it! 😄

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has shared their creations with us. We absolutely love seeing what you've made! 😍

Check out some of the fabulous monsters we've seen so far. Monster makers, you've outdone yourselves!

👋 Kia ora everyone, important announcement: Nuit Blanche is on tonight! 🪩

We’re keeping an eye on the weather forecast today and will share any updates here, on the Nuit Blanche Facebook event page and website if anything changes.

There are so many people who’ve put time into making tonight happen, from the performers and artists to the food trucks, hospo teams and all the crew working behind the scenes.

So if there’s a bit of rain on the radar, bring a raincoat or dig out the rain ponchos and come prepared for a night out. A bit of weather isn’t going to stop us from getting amongst it 🙂

We’re still throwing Hawke’s Bay’s biggest street party, so unless we post an update saying it’s cancelled, Nuit Blanche is on! 💃

🐟 Guess Todays Movie! 🍝

Can you guess the movie we will be showing today at the Family Movie Afternoon?

We will give you another hint: "Silenzio, Bruno!"
