🎱FIRST CNZ CLUB CHAMPS🎱

CNZ Mixed Pairs 2026

What a great day for our very first CNZ Club Championship!

We had 8 pairs take to the tables, with a few familiar faces missing that would’ve easily pushed us over 10 pairs. Hopefully next year we can make it even bigger!

There was a great balance across all the pairs, with some awesome games and plenty of close frames throughout the day.

We kicked things off with a Round Robin – Best of 3, meaning everyone got to play everyone. Section play was wrapped up by 1pm, and we had the whole competition finished by 3pm – not bad at all!

Congratulations to Jason & Chloe, our Top Qualifiers overall!

The finals were fantastic to watch, with some very close frames and great battles on the tables!

🏆 MAIN
Winners: Tahn & Hannah – 3
Runners-up: Butch & Kat – 1

🥇 PLATE

A massive thank you to Meilah for running such a smooth competition – clearly takes after her mother! 😂👏

🎱Open Pairs Club Champs 2026🎱

Full house today! The atmosphere was awesome!

18 pairs today, and what a strong field we had. Plenty of close games, some great battles, and some awesome 8 Ball played throughout the day.

I think we can all agree the game of the day had to be Blake & Bianca versus Reon & Andre — especially that battle on the black! I’m pretty sure there were three or four shots each at it! At that point, I don’t think we could blame either team… I think we’ll blame the table! And judging by the comments today, I think most players would agree that table might be ready for retirement!

Our top qualifiers, Kerry & Kevin, played some great pool and made their way through to the final. Unfortunately, Kevin had to pull out, and with their opponents happy for Kerry to continue, Craig stepped in as his replacement.

Winners: Kerry & Craig💪
Runner up: Tahn & Pete👏

A massive thank you to Dennis for coming in this morning and brushing and preparing all the tables for us. You did such a good job, Dennis — I think we’ll keep you on!

Maureen, thank you once again for the beautiful hampers you put together for our raffles. Your support and effort is always hugely appreciated.

We’ve received some really positive feedback today about how smoothly the comp ran, with no hiccups, and that is so encouraging to hear.

We want Matamata RSA to be the go-to place for 8 Ball. We’re already known around Matamata for having some of the best tables — well… maybe minus that one (table 2) after today! 😂

Bigger things to come next year! And yes… the CNZ Club Champs are coming! So lock in those Wednesday club nights, come on down, learn the CNZ rules and get yourself ready!

Lastly, a very special thank you to Dennis & Maureen for your speech, your incredibly kind words, and the beautiful flowers. It really meant a lot to me and was very much appreciated.

Thank you everyone for another fantastic day. Safe travels home, and we’ll see you around the tables again soon!
