Nice to see one of my presentation boxes out in public. Unfortunately I can see some things that could have been done a little better. But can't you always see what could have been better?

Very chuffed winner of the John Sansome Memorial Competition this year. This is a Bradel binding made with a black leather spine and silver lettering, in a pop top box.

Job with a difference. Presentation boxes made for 5 single glasses and two pairs of glasses. Customer seems happy and it's nice to do something different and creative.

My lovely customer Haami Te Whaiti. So nice to see him being recognized for his good work. Such a lovely man.

Huge congratulations to Haami Te Whaiti (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Ngāi Tahu, Rangitāne) on being awarded the Ngā Tohu ā Tā Kingi Ihaka | Sir Kingi Ihaka Award recognising lifetime contribution award in Creative New Zealands The Ngā Taonga Toi a Te Waka Toi Awards 2024.

Haami Te Whaiti was born in Martinborough, grew up on a farm near Mangakino and became a member of Ngā Tamatoa at Waikato University. For more than 40 years he has worked alongside kaumātua, kuia and whānau to support the kaupapa of Ngati Hinewaka. Haami’s work has helped to see the return of waahi tapu land at Mātakitaki-a-Kupe after 100 years of dispossession. He supported the reconstruction of Mākōtukutuku wharepuni at Te Papa and has curated exhibitions at Aratoi. More recently, he has been a negotiator settling iwi claims.

Haami Te Whaiti is Aratoi's Kaihautu & Curator Māori.

Congratulations to all the 2024 winners!

Trinket box I made for my neighbour's 70th birthday. Gold buckram and purple cloth with hand made purple and gold paper lining. You can't see them, but there are 5 little feet underneath as well.
