The end of the 2025/26 regatta season was celebrated on Thursday evening at the Invercargill Rowing Club Awards Event, with a great turnout of members and supporters.
Thank you to guest speaker, George Kempton, for sharing his many years of voluntary involvement with our club and the contributions he has made during that time.
As always, the shared pot luck tea was a sight to behold, with a great selection of yummy food.
Those who received the cups and trophies are listed with the following photos, however there were a few members absent to collect their awards and these were:
- Best performing single - Millie Hackett
- Best perfoming pair - Maddie Diack
- Novice trophy: Fergal Legg
- Outstanding contribution to the club - Ciara Hourston

The Invercargill Rowing Club has had a very successful and rewarding 2025/26 rowing season and as a result collected many cups, trophies and certificates at the Southland Rowing Awards event held today in the Waihopai Rowing Clubrooms.
Well done to all our club members who contributed to this success and congratulations to our dual ABC/IRC club member Frank Dean for being recognised with the Administrator of the Year Trophy.

The Invercargill Rowing Club was proud to have hosted the 2026 South Island Adaptive Indoor Rowing Championship in its clubrooms yesterday.
It was a very successful event that everybody who attended enjoyed. A big thankyou to Dave Galbraith and Anne McKenzie, who both played a big part in organising the event and Frank Dean for presenting the races on the screen for the spectators.
I hope you enjoy the many photos taken at the event.

How can you not want to go for a row when the Oreti River is as flat as this?

The Invercargill Rowing Club is proud of what these Stewart Island young athletes have achieved since taking up rowing as a sport in the last 12 months. π£
From a 70km coastal row to a haka on the beachβ¦ and now a new wave of Stewart Island talent is making its mark in Southland rowing. π£ββοΈ
What started as a chance encounter on Rakiura has come full circle - with island kids, big commutes, and even bigger ambition. Proof that in rowing, the journey really does come back around.

IRC 2025/26 Season Club Photo - Change in Time to 4.30pm
The photo scheduled for 5.00pm Tuesday the 17th of March 2026, does not suit the school age rowers who are training for the Maadi Cup event. The day and time selected was never going to suit all members, but in the interests of getting a majority of members in the photo, it will be taken at 4.30pm tomorrow. (Tuesday)
For the active rowers who do not have club rowsuits, or singlets, we will have a supply of club singlets available to borrow for the photo.
