Karting Auckland Mt Wellington Daylight Savings Club Day Recap π
What a mixed day for racing, but such a fun one! I loved getting out in the rain, I loved the changing conditions, and I loved having good battles out on track.
Starting the day on wets and a rain suit moving to slicks and no rain suit was always going to be interesting with lots of changes, and I'm so glad my dad got my kart working well for me.
And how good to have my first race after getting my T1 license!
Heat 1: 9th
Heat 2: 11th
Heat 3: 10th
Heat 4: 12th

Overall: 11th

ROOKIE STEGHS SHOWS PROMISE AT BLOSSOM 57!
Lucas Steghs from KartSport Auckland Mt Wellington ventured south to Hawkeβs Bay for his first-ever big event - The Hawkeβs Bay Heavy Haul Blossom 57! π
Taking on the Vortex Mini Rok class in his Praga chassis, Lucas showed some fine racing skills and, more importantly, plenty of determination and persistence throughout the weekend.
A huge 10-race weekend is no small feat for a rookie, but Lucas tackled it all with admirable composure and kept pushing right through to the finish. There was even a little bonus adventure along the way, with Lucas earning himself a free ride on the 007 Paintball Recovery vehicle after a wee mishap! ποΈπ¨
What a way to make your first big-event debut, Lucas! Great to see you out there, weβre looking forward to seeing where the karting journey takes you next! ππ

πΈ Blossom 57 Race Recap πΈ
I never thought that in the year I started karting that I would be heading away to my first tiered national competition only 6 months and 13 days after taking part in my first race, so this weekend was a dream for me.
My main goal for the weekend was to learn what it's like to race in a national competition, what I need to do, what tech looks like, and what its like to race in that next level - and I did exactly that.
I am proud that on Saturday in one of the races my fastest lap was only 900th of a second behind the fastest lap. I am proud that I was racing amongst the pack. And I am proud that other than 1 race I had a very clean weekend.
Blossom was exactly what I hoped it would be, a chance to learn, a chance for more seat time, a chance to see another track, a chance to challenge myself and a chance to make friends. I walked away from the weekend with new skills, new ideas and solid friendships that ill take with me for life. Oh, and a new axle and hub after ending up in an incident Heat 7 π
Heat 1: P13
Heat 2: P14
Heat 3: P14
Heat 4: P14
Heat 5: P15
Heat 6: P13
Heat 7: DNF
Heat 8: P13
Heat 9: P14
Heat 10: P14
Overall: P14
This weekend would not have been possible without the incredible people and businesses that got me there and those who put in mega support over the weekend by helping with my kart, travelling over 3 hours to watch me race or watching SpeedHive to see how I was going:

Happy Fathers Day to my Dad. Thank you for everything you do for me. Not just with racing, but with everything every day. Thank you for giving up your father's day to be 5 hours from home, spinning spanners and spraying brake cleaner all weekend so I could come and race at Blossom.

Thank you to everyone that has said they will support me. I will be closing this off tomorrow night and sending the shirt off to print on Wednesday. I am so excited to be heading to my first national competition π
Can you help me get to my first national competition?
8 months ago Mum and Dad said yes to me starting my karting journey, and they thought it would be slow and steady. Turns out I'm not too bad at this and I managed to get my Tier 2 license in my first 6 months of karting, which means I can compete in my first national competition, so tonight I signed up to head away to Kartsport Hawkes Bay to race at Blossom at the beginning of September.
This will be my first proper away race, and with 3 days of racing its going to cost Mum and Dad a bit, so I decided I would try and raise some money to help go towards my race weekend.
If you can, I would love for you to make a donation of any amount to help get me to Blossom. For every person that donates you will get your name, or your business name, printed on a T Shirt that I will wear for the whole weekend so everyone can see who helped get me there.
Spaces are limited, and as soon as they're filled the t shirt will go to print. Please comment below, message my page or message Mum/Dad if you would like to make a donation so they can pass on how to pay.
Thank you π
