The front might have got a tad torn up yesterday, but its not often you wear tread depth dots to basically zero and the tires are still hooking up awesome! Love these Bridgestone Moto NZ V02's!
Didn't get to race Hampton Downs international circuit this year so just out here being a trackday warrior showing the modern bikes what 40year old machinery can do. Seemed like a better idea before fuel was over $3.50 a litre 😳
With Cliffhanger just around the corner I thought I'd put up this throwback to my attempt back in 2023 on the VFR. This was my first time there and couldn't make the Saturday test day so just threw it all down on the Sunday over the course of 5 runs. Managed to get down to a 2:17 up the 6km run.
Unfortunately can't make it again this year but maybe next.
Race 1 Part 2 but rear facing for this one. Just a short 3 lap sprint where I got a good start but over road something chronic missing more apex than I hit. Only took Pav 2 laps to hunt me down. Got him back once more on the final lap but my dream was not to be. 8 odd months to dwell on it before the next classic meeting.

We may not have gotten in all the scheduled races at Hampton Downs on Saturday but the ones we did have were brilliant! Had another awesome battle trying to punch above my weight against Pav on the big thou but just couldn't quite do it. Did manage a 1:09.8 which interesting enough puts me only 0.5s off what the top Sportbike managed at AMCC earlier in the season (some power but they are about 35 years newer!) So pretty happy with that!
Part 1 of Race 1 this morning hassling Paul Pavletich. Was bloody good fun until the red came out!
New Zealand Classic Motorcycle Racing Register (NZCMRR) Summer Classic at Hampton Downs today. Bridgestone Moto NZ V02 slicks are having a go at their 4th event today on the same set. See how qualifying goes to decide if I crack out a new set or not.

Once more a massive shout out to Peter Bryant and the guys at THS MOTO. Pete leant us this bike knowing full well what it was in for. The THS guys at the event then gave us a shock when ours blew apart only a few hours in and then another when it turned out the first was no good. We tried our best to get it through but unfortunately the previous life this bike had on a farm somewhere in the Waikato caught up to it and it cried no more with 4hrs left to go. Sorry Pete but it's not quite ready for the showroom floor anymore
