๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ช๐๐๐ฆ๐: Queenwood Charm ๐๐ก
This Queenwood project is a great example of whatโs possible when you take a much-loved older home and rework the key zones to better suit modern family life. The owners loved the area and outlook, but the layout no longer met their growing needs, so we transformed the home without extending its footprint.
In this video, Will Johnston takes you through the key features of the finished result. Itโs a longer walkthrough that we hope will inspire you to see whatโs possible in your own home, and where smart planning and detailing can make a big difference.

A shoutout to Will Weavers from Woven Architects Limited for his work on this project ๐

What a difference a bit of Autumn sunshine makes! Itโs a welcome break to see some blue sky days in the Waikato after the long run of wild weather.
With Cyclone Vaianu passing through, the Waikato was fortunate to avoid the worst of it compared with other regions, but many of us have still dealt with strong winds, heavy rain, and the odd unsettling night. We hope you and your home have stayed safe โค๏ธ .
With the forecast looking like itโs settling down, with more sun than rain over the next week, now is a great time to catch up on the basics before winter really arrives. https://jccbuild.nz/media/autumn-home-maintenance-checklist
In our updated Autumn article, our practical checklist helps you get on top of the key jobs:
โข Roof, gutters, downpipes, and drainage
โข Heating prep, smoke alarms, and draft sealing
โข Decks, paths, and outdoor areas to reduce slip hazards

Last week, our team went over to Tauranga for a behind-the-scenes tour of the GIB manufacturing facility as part of our wider team day.
It was an awesome experience seeing the scale and innovation that go into this great kiwi product. Understanding how GIB systems are developed and produced gives us greater confidence in how we use them across our builds and reinforces why product selection matters when delivering long-lasting, high-quality homes.
A big shoutout to the team at GIBยฎ for hosting us and putting on a great visit; we really appreciate the time, insight, and hospitality. Check out a glimpse of what it's like to go behind the scenes in the video below ๐

With Cyclone Vaianu forecast to hit the Waikato this weekend, here are a few quick, safe prep reminders before the weather worsens:
โข Clear leaves from gutters, grates, and driveway drains (ground level is best; avoid ladders in wind).
โข Bring inside, or tie down, outdoor furniture, trampolines, umbrellas, and loose items.
โข Move cars away from trees if you can.
โข If you notice blocked stormwater drains, report them to Council.

Over recent weeks, we have been on a number of jobs caused by leaking roofs and wet weather water ingress. One thing is consistent: acting early can make a big difference to both the scale of damage and the cost to put things right. With that in mind, this updated article shares practical steps to take if you discover water damage at home ๐ https://www.jccbuild.nz/media/dealing-with-water-damage-steps-to-take-after-a-flood-or-leak-at-home

Our team will be taking a short break to recharge with whฤnau from Good Friday through to Easter Monday. Weโll be back on the tools from Tuesday, 7th April.
If you have any building emergencies over the long weekend, you can still reach out to Will directly; his contact details are on our website: jccbuild.nz/contact-us
For Will and Sarah, they like to take the time to remember the death and resurrection of Christ, as Jesus has had such a big influence in their own lives. It is a time of reflection and joy, reminding us of the hope we have through Christ.
However you celebrate this Easter, we want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your whฤnau for a safe and happy break! ๐
๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ช๐๐๐ฆ๐: Pukete Prestige Revisited ๐๐ก
We recently went back to this Pukete project, and itโs still looking as sharp as the day it was completed. In this video, Will Johnston shares some on-site insight into the thinking behind the build and the work that went into bringing everything together.
What started as a tired, plaster-clad home has been completely transformed through a full exterior refresh, reclad, and carefully planned additions. The result is a modern, low-maintenance home with a strong street presence thatโs built to handle the Waikato climate.

๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐๐:
โข Full exterior renovation with a complete two-storey reclad
โข Modern Nu-Wall aluminium cladding for a clean, upmarket finish
โข Structural additions integrated seamlessly with the original home
โข Improved insulation and weathertightness as part of the reclad process
โข A major transformation completed over six to eight months

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Faith to Thrive team (and the wider Relay for Life event) at Claudelands Oval on Saturday. It was a special day of awareness, remembrance, and standing with everyone affected by cancer.
What started as a misty morning turned into a beautiful, sun-soaked day full of good vibes. Our Johnston Family Crew exceeded their goal, raising $2,450; the wider Faith to Thrive team raised $9,476; and the entire Hamilton Relay for Life event raised over $200,000! ๐
We appreciate all the volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made this event possible. Your contribution helps the Cancer Society continue to support families affected by cancer in their time of need.
Check out the full video in this post for highlights from the day (I think we have a budding new reporter on our hands ๐), and head to our blog for more details: https://jccbuild.nz/media/relay-for-life-2026-thank-you

The countdown is officially on! This time on Saturday morning, the Relay for Life day will kick off at the Waikato University sports fields. A big thank you to everyone who has already donated to the cause!
As mentioned in our previous post, Will's family have been part of this event for years, inspired by their much-loved sister-in-law and aunty, Chrissy. Before she passed in 2024, she asked the family to keep the Relay for Life tradition going to ensure other Kiwi families receive the same incredible support from the Cancer Society that she did.

In Chrissyโs honour, the Johnston family and JCC Build are proud to stand with team 'Faith to Thrive' this Saturday. We would love to see you there! If you aren't able to make it down but would still like to support the cause, any donation makes a huge difference. โค๏ธ
