Last week, our Recruitment Consultants Christi and Tanya had the pleasure of welcoming Augustine to New Zealand.

We wish Augustine all the best as he settles into his new role as a Carpenter, gets settled into his new home, and begins this exciting new chapter.

Welcome to New Zealand, Augustine!

"Great leaders stand in front when there's blame and stand behind when there's praise."

This quote perfectly captures what leadership should look like in the recruitment industry.

Every successful placement, every satisfied client, and every candidate who starts a new chapter in their career is the result of a team effort. Behind every achievement are recruiters making calls, consultants building relationships, administrators keeping operations moving, and support teams ensuring compliance and delivery.

As leaders, it is our responsibility to step forward when challenges arise. Whether it's a difficult client situation, a placement that doesn't go to plan, or market conditions that impact performance, accountability starts at the top. Our teams need to know that we will stand beside them and take ownership when things become difficult.

At the same time, when success comes, the spotlight belongs to the people who earned it. Great leaders understand that recognition should be shared with the team that made the result possible. Celebrating individual and collective achievements builds confidence, strengthens culture, and creates an environment where people want to grow and succeed.

In recruitment, relationships are our greatest asset. The way we lead our people directly influences how they serve our clients, candidates, and communities. Leadership is not about titles or authority, it's about responsibility, trust, and creating an environment where others can thrive.

The strongest recruitment businesses are built by leaders who protect their teams during adversity and champion them during success.

Take the blame. Share the praise. Build the culture. The results will follow.

Starting a new job is a big step.

Starting a new job in a new country? That's something else entirely.

For many workers coming into New Zealand, it's not just about learning a role; it's about adjusting to a new environment, new systems, and life away from familiar support networks.

That's why support and guidance during the transition matter.

At Success Group, we understand that successful recruitment goes beyond filling a vacancy. When workers feel supported as they settle into their new role and surroundings, they're more likely to thrive, contribute, and build long-term success with their employer.

Many Kiwis are working hard, doing all the right things, and still feeling the pressure.

Rising living costs, job uncertainty, and financial stress are affecting households across New Zealand, particularly younger people entering the workforce and trying to build stable careers.

While there are signs of economic recovery, many are still asking the same question: why does life feel so expensive?

Our latest blog explores the current reality facing New Zealand workers, the impact on wellbeing, and where opportunities still exist.

As General Manager, one of the most important lessons I have learned is that recruitment is about far more than filling vacancies, it's about building strong communities and creating pathways for future generations.

For recruitment agencies, developing meaningful relationships with community organisations, schools, universities, polytechnics, and training providers is essential. These partnerships allow us to stay connected with the next generation entering the workforce while also supporting individuals within our communities who may need guidance, opportunities, or a helping hand to re-enter employment.

The workforce is constantly evolving, and by engaging with tertiary institutions, we gain valuable insights into emerging talent, changing skill sets, and the aspirations of future employees. At the same time, working alongside community organisations helps us understand the challenges many people face and enables us to connect them with meaningful employment opportunities.

Strong businesses are built on strong relationships. By investing time in our communities today, we help create a stronger, more capable workforce for tomorrow. Success isn't measured solely by placements and revenue; it's measured by the positive impact we have on people's lives, careers, and futures.

The most successful recruitment agencies are those that remain connected, engaged, and committed to supporting both businesses and the communities they serve.

We all carry things.

Work pressure. Family responsibilities. Financial stress. Life admin.

Sometimes the cup slowly fills… and we don't realise how full it's become.

Don't wait for the overflow.

Having support before it overflows can make all the difference.

It was awesome spending time with some amazing students in Waikato who are eager to enter the workforce and build their futures 🙌

There was such a great mix of skills, experiences, personalities, and potential within the group. It’s always inspiring meeting people who are ready to learn and looking for new opportunities.

I’ve attended a few Auckland graduations over the years through recruitment, so it was awesome experiencing the Waikato side and connecting with a supportive environment.

A huge thank you to Mary Erasmuson and the Chamber of Commerce team (Cadetmax and Career Nest) for organising the day and creating these pathways for students transitioning into employment. You and your lovely team 😊

Looking forward to continuing to work alongside you all and helping connect more people into meaningful employment opportunities across the Waikato.
