He doesn’t own a car or a house but he might just be New Zealand’s most recognisable voice on the economy.
We were thrilled to welcome Brad Olsen from Infometrics Ltd back to Union Square for the first of our 2026 Thought Leadership sessions. He was joined by Rhys Harvey from Foster Group Limited and a strong crowd of Hamilton business leaders.
Brad spoke about the changing global outlook, rising cost pressures and what it all means for businesses here in the Waikato.
A key takeaway: Our region is in a strong position thanks to its primary sector, youthful population and supportive local business community.
A huge thank you to BBO for hosting, to the Waikato Chamber of Commerce, for their event management, and to the 70 Hamilton business leaders who joined us for an evening of insight, networking and conversation.
Building B's structural steel is now complete, the Level 3 slab has been poured (with all slabs across the building now finished), and ground floor wall framing is complete.
Ground floor window seismic frames have been installed, scaffolding is in place for façade cladding, and internal framing at ground level has commenced.
Next up: soffit framing will begin, external envelope framing will progress on Level 1, roof installation will start, and glazing works at ground floor will get underway alongside Level 1 window seismic frames.
The building is now moving decisively from structure into enclosure and interior progression.

This world-class office space accommodates various workflows and styles, ensuring a comfortable and productive work environment for all.
The full skeleton of Building B is almost complete. Over the past period, the Phase 4 and 5 of structural steel were completed, the concrete detailing at ground level was poured, and work has started on the outer walls and building envelope. This is another significant milestone, as we move from structure ➡️ enclosure.
It’s exciting to see the scale and form of Union Square coming to life as construction continues to progress well.

It's exciting to see this project come together and witness the expertise and dedication of Foster Group Limited's teams in action.
The landscape at Union Square has changed completely. The first-floor slab is down at Building B, and the steel skeleton is rising fast. 🏗️
The expansive concrete is in place, locking in the building's structural integrity. With the solid base established, the team is already reaching new heights.
The structural steel is climbing rapidly and the scale of Building B is truly making its mark on the precinct.

Building B at Union Square is being built for a new professional community to move into in 2026.
With @[urn:li:organization:15656] and @[urn:li:organization:86390490] set to occupy the majority of the building, there’s now just one commercial space remaining.

Building B is now visibly out of the ground, with the structural steel framework rapidly progressing. 👏
These rising columns form the strong bones of the building. The next major milestone will be the first-floor pour scheduled for next week. This crucial step locks the structural integrity of the building together.
Great progress, as you can see, as we shape the future home of our new tenants Tetra Pak and AECOM.
