A customer told us recently: "sustainable materials are usually just a more expensive version of something else. This is completely different."
He wasn't wrong to expect a premium, that's the market's default. But we charge a gate fee for soft plastics, cartons and construction wrap, same or higher than landfill costs. We don't pay for raw material like our competitors do, so we pass the saving on instead of charging one.

Doesn't a business built on recycled waste need people to keep making waste? Fair question.
Here's our answer: we don't create the waste stream. Food and beverage cartons and soft plastics are already being produced regardless of us. We just give material that would otherwise go to landfill a second life as a building product instead.
Not a product problem. A systems one. We love the hard questions.

New Zealand Green Building Council - NZGBC and the Green Building Council of Australia just launched Green Star Fitouts, the first Green Star tool that makes circularity a core requirement, not a bonus credit. From October, every new fitout registration has to meet it.
We've been ahead of this one. Our work with Woolworths, KFC, Elite Supplements Young, BIG W, RELAY, are examples of what that looks like and each of their stores saves 250kg to 2,000kg of food & beverage cartons and soft plastic waste into building materials instead of landfill. Same outcome the new standard is built to reward. We just started years earlier.

Five minutes, direct propane torch, saveBOARD paired with an intumescent coating from our friends at Zone Architectural Products.
It didn't burn through, and the coating worked as expected. This is DIY testing only, formal third-party testing starts over the coming weeks now we have confidence that it could work.
