We are super excited to welcome and introduce Trish Tangaroa as our new Kaiārahi.

Trish was welcomed at an intimate (as per requested) Mihi Whakatau on Monday by our Y Te Tiriti Komiti, staff and Management.

the Y Tiriti Komiti was established to help lead, and guide practice to ensure it is culturally appropriate and responsive, meeting the YMCA’s obligations to te Tiriti o Waitangi and to embed tikanga Māori and kawa into business as usual at the Y.

Trish has joined our Y whānau to provide cultural leadership, mentorship, and practical guidance in applying Te Tiriti principles, as well as strengthening our capability in te reo Māori, tikanga, and culturally inclusive practices.

We look forward to having her onboard.

FYI whānau

Kia ora whānau,

Our emergency communications plan for parents’ caregivers and others.

Planning:
Our Emergency Evacuation plan is reviewed every year and whanau will be advised, at which point we will remind them of the Emergency Evacuation plans importance.

This information should also be in the Whanau booklet received by new whanau into the centre.

Any updates and changes will be communicated to whanau via page or panui.

Response:
In the event of an emergency, parents and whanau will be notified via either method.

A Facebook panui will be put on the Y- Tamariki Facebook group re: the situation and all relevant information including pickup point.

Following this, Parents and designated whanau members will be systematically contacted as per the contact list.
(Contact list is in evacuation bags)

Persons responsible will oversee the rolls and ensuring tamariki are collected by the appropriate designated whanau member.
Persons responsible will also oversee ensuring communication is maintained to relevant agencies and authorities including civil defence, emergency services and The Ministry of Education.

Where parents/whanau cannot be contacted or we are unable to make contact, notices will be put on the front entrance of the centre notifying parents where they can collect their tamariki.

Parents/whanau are advised to listen to the following radio stations for any notifications or information.
