As you’ll have seen from our post earlier this week, this week is Speech Language Therapy Awareness Week in New Zealand, and the theme is “Celebrating Differences”
We’re thrilled to announce that in just under a month, we’ll be launching My Stutter – Volume 2, featuring the unique voices of people from all over Aotearoa who stutter. Each story highlights the diversity of the stuttering experience and offers valuable insights into what it means to live with a stutter. To celebrate this week’s SLT Awareness theme, we’d like to share an excerpt from one of the contributors to My Stutter – Volume 2:
“If you have a stutter and can barely say your name, if talking feels like running a marathon, if you work twice as hard as everyone else to get just as far, you still have a voice, and your voice matters. Stuttering can suck, but it’s a part of me. Yes, I stutter; I am unique, but I am me.”
