Manawatu Riding For Disabled

While I have total confidence in our fantastic horse care team, given the horrendous winds, I wanted to see just what it looked like at 248! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the paddocks above the carpark were surprisingly sheltered and most of the team were there.

So those concerned about wind and the ponies welfare, sleep easy because our wonderful ponies are fine!

We are on the lookout to buy some baylage for our older members of the equine team this winter. Happy for big or small rectangle bales but would require big bales to be delivered. Thank you ☺️

Young/Green Horse Day Saturday 18th July

We are running a different fundraiser these holidays and is aimed at our local riders/horses who may need a bit more confidence before heading to a first outing or event.

There will be confidence-building games, obstacles, poles, jumps, the hoof ball and more to explore. All while in the safety of an enclosed arena with an experienced, calm horse as a buddy if required. While this is not a lesson, there will be two coaches in with you to help support you and your horse as this day is all about building confidence.

This is perfect for those with young horses that want to give them a positive experience out and about before the season starts or for those new combinations that may need that extra bit of support before going out alone.

Mounted or unmounted, young and not-so-young, all combinations are welcome! The cost is $60 for each horse which includes the arena hire. There are limited spaces available so please comment on this post to book your spot.

9.45am - 10.30am

11.00am - 11.45am

12.15pm - 1.00pm

**Effective immediately, we are strictly enforcing a local-horses-only policy**

Due to the recent nationwide strangles outbreak, we must take these strict precautions to protect our aging therapy horses. Any horse(s) that have travelled outside the Manawatu within the past 4 weeks are temporarily not permitted onsite. We are putting these temporary measures in place to safeguard the health of our equine team and will review in two weeks’ time.

Please also ensure your boots and equipment are thoroughly disinfected before coming to our property if you/your horse have been to local events in the recent weeks.

As an extra precaution, please do not use the tie-ups or trough inside. If your horse requires water, please bring your own buckets and fill from the tap in the parking area.

We know these restrictions may cause some inconvenience, but protecting our herd is our absolute priority. Strangles is a highly contagious disease and our senior horses are particularly vulnerable. Thank you for your understanding, vigilance, and cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe.

This will not affect our planned RDA sessions starting in Term 3.
