We’re excited to introduce the newest members of the Deluxe RV family, Chris and Georgette, who have just picked up their brand new 2026 Atlas RVO 18'6 Caravan!

Based in the South Island, Chris and Georgette came to Deluxe RV looking for something that would give them plenty of space and comfort, but still be ready to head off on an adventure when the road gets a little more interesting.

And these two are definitely keen to explore!

They love getting out and discovering new places, finding those hidden gems, enjoying the outdoors and making the most of everything New Zealand has to offer.

Now they have their Atlas, the adventures can really begin!

Chris and Georgette have created their own Facebook and Instagram pages where they have been sharing their travels for a while now, along with their favourite spots, new places they discover and recommendations for places you might want to add to your own travel list.

At Deluxe RV, we always encourage our customers to think of their motorhome as both a vehicle and a home, because that’s exactly what it is.

The difference is, your motorhome has to deal with road conditions, changing weather, vibration and thousands of kilometres on the road. Your house thankfully doesn’t have to put up with any of that.

Regular maintenance isn’t just about keeping everything working. It’s about protecting your investment, spotting the little problems before they turn into big ones, and making sure your motorhome is ready to go when you are.

A little maintenance now can save a lot later.

There are a few key areas we recommend staying on top of:

• Annual habitation and safety checks

• Water tightness and water ingress inspections

• Engine servicing

• Brake inspections

• Checking tyre condition

• Battery testing

• Solar system checks

• Electrical certification when required

• Roof and exterior seal inspections

• Appliance servicing and checks

Don’t underestimate water.

One of the biggest issues we see is water damage that starts with something incredibly small. It could be a seal, a joint or a tiny area of moisture that has gone unnoticed.

The tricky part is that water doesn’t always make itself known straight away. By the time you notice staining, dampness or a soft wall, there could already be a much bigger problem hiding underneath.

That’s why regular water tightness inspections are so important. Motorhome manufacturers recommend scheduled inspections to help protect the structure of the vehicle and catch potential problems early.

Water is patient. It doesn’t need much of an invitation.

Our advice from Deluxe RV

Don’t wait until something goes wrong before thinking about maintenance.

Set yourself reminders for servicing, water tightness checks, tyres, batteries and other important inspections. Keep a simple record of when each one was completed and when the next one is due.

It might seem like a small job at the time, but keeping on top of these things can make a huge difference to the life of your motorhome and could potentially save you a very expensive repair bill further down the track.

Your motorhome is a significant investment. Looking after it properly means you can spend less time worrying about what might go wrong and more time enjoying the places it can take you.
