Quiz night was already bringing people through the door.
The opportunity was to make that activity work harder.
For , we built a simple system around their weekly quiz night that connected what was happening in the venue with email marketing and ongoing customer engagement.
That included:
→ a dedicated mailing-list sign-up page
→ an in-venue incentive to encourage sign-ups
→ more engaging weekly quiz emails
→ a clearer way to stay connected with customers after the event
The result was more than another weekly promotion.
The work helped Next Bar grow its email database, increase engagement, boost quiz-night attendance and turn existing venue traffic into an audience they could continue building a relationship with.
The goal was simple: to make one marketing activity work harder, creating value beyond the night itself..

Your most valuable customer is not always the person who makes the biggest purchase.
Sometimes it is the person who keeps coming back.
The one who genuinely values what you do.
The one who engages with your business, gives useful feedback and happily recommends you to someone else.
Those relationships are worth paying attention to.
Your loyal customers can also tell you a lot about your business:
→ Why did they choose you?
→ What keeps them coming back?
→ What do they value most?
→ What could make their experience even better?
And you do not need a complicated loyalty programme to strengthen those relationships.
Sometimes it is as simple as staying in touch, asking for feedback, recognising their support and making it easy for them to recommend you.
Before putting all of your energy into finding the next customer, take a look at the people who already love what you do.
They could become some of your strongest advocates.

You do not need to outsource your entire marketing function to get useful support.
A better place to start is with the part that keeps slowing everything else down.
Maybe you have plenty of ideas but no clear direction.
Maybe your branding feels disconnected.
Maybe content, emails or marketing tasks are constantly being pushed to next week.
Or maybe your website is making it harder for people to understand what you actually offer.
The right starting point will look different for every business.
Ask yourself:
→ What keeps getting delayed?
→ What takes more of my time than it should?
→ Where do I feel least confident?
→ What is stopping the rest of the marketing from moving?
That is usually the place where outside support can make the biggest difference.
You do not have to hand everything over.
**Start with the bottleneck.**
If you could take one marketing task off your plate tomorrow, what would it be?

It needs to make it easy for the right person to understand your business, find what they need and know what to do next.
That starts with more than how the site looks.
A strong website brings together:
→ a clear structure that guides people through the right information
→ design that actually feels like your brand
→ copy that explains what you offer in a way people can understand
→ SEO-friendly messaging that helps search engines understand it too
And if your current website is not quite doing that, it does not always mean starting again.
Sometimes an audit, clearer structure or refreshed messaging is enough to make a big difference.
Other times, a new site really is the better option.
The important part is understanding what needs fixing before jumping straight into a redesign.
AJ Creative offers Website Design & Support for businesses starting from scratch or refreshing what they already have.

It might be worth looking at the rest of the brand first.
Sometimes a business starts to feel disconnected or outdated and the logo gets blamed, when the real issue sits somewhere else.
Maybe the messaging no longer reflects what you do.
Maybe the visuals feel inconsistent across your website, socials and other touchpoints.
Or maybe the business has simply grown and the brand has not grown with it.
A strong brand is more than one visual element. It is the combination of how you look, what you say and how consistently people experience the business.
So before starting again with the logo, ask:
→ Is our positioning still clear?
→ Does everything feel connected?
→ Does the brand still represent the business we are today?
Sometimes a new logo is part of the answer.
Sometimes it is not.
Save this for your next brand review.
When marketing feels like it is not working, the instinct is often to do more.
Post more.
Create more Reels.
Add another platform.
Send more emails.
But sometimes the amount of content is not actually the problem.
If your audience is unclear, your message keeps changing, your offer is difficult to understand or there is no clear goal behind the content, producing more of it can simply amplify the confusion.
Before asking **“What should we post next?”**, it can be more useful to ask:
→ Who are we trying to reach?
→ What do we want them to understand about the business?
→ What are we trying to achieve?
→ Is our current message actually clear?
Sometimes your marketing does not need more content.
**It needs clearer direction first.**

Instagram has given us a little more control over what people see when they land on our profiles.
You can now rearrange posts on your profile grid instead of being permanently locked into the order they were published.
For businesses, that could be useful for bringing things like:
→ key services
→ strong client work
→ evergreen content
→ current campaigns
closer to the top of the profile.
But our take?
Do not turn rearranging your grid into another marketing job.
A well-organised profile can help create a stronger first impression, but it will not replace clear messaging, useful content or a solid strategy.
Use your grid to support your content. Do not create content just to support your grid.
Would you rearrange yours? And what would you move first?
Comment down below.
The final post might take someone a few seconds to scroll past.
But getting it there usually involves a lot more than simply choosing a photo and writing a caption.
Before a piece of content reaches the feed, there can be:
→ research
→ planning
→ deciding what the post needs to achieve
→ writing and refining the message
→ designing
→ reviewing
→ client feedback
→ revisions
→ scheduling
And that behind-the-scenes work matters.
Because good content should not just fill another space in the calendar. It should have a reason for being there and connect back to the wider marketing plan.
The finished post is the part everyone sees.
The thinking behind it is what gives it direction.

Your content can look beautiful and still not be doing much for the business.
A polished feed can help people stop and look, but good content also needs a reason to exist.
Before creating your next post, ask:
→ Who is this for?
→ What is it meant to do?
→ What should happen next?
Maybe the goal is to educate. Build trust. Start a conversation. Create awareness. Drive an enquiry.
Whatever the objective, the message should come first and the design should help communicate it.
Because aesthetic matters.
It just is not the whole job.
When creativity and strategy work together, your content can look good and support the bigger picture.
Save this for the next time you sit down to plan your content.

Doing your own marketing can work well for a long time. Until the business grows, your priorities shift, and suddenly every post, email and design still depends on you.
A few signs you may have outgrown the DIY stage:
→ marketing is always the first thing pushed aside
→ you are still holding every part of the process together
→ content is being created without a clear direction or goal
That does not mean you have failed at doing it yourself. It usually means the business has reached a point where your time is better spent elsewhere, and your marketing needs more structure, consistency and support.
The right help should not take your business away from you. It should make the marketing clearer, easier to manage and better aligned with where you are heading.
Is your marketing still working for the business, or has it become another job sitting entirely with you?
