How often does your commercial building actually need electrical maintenance? 🔌

For most Auckland businesses, the answer is at least once a year. Busy or high-load sites, like restaurants, warehouses and anything running servers or refrigeration, often need a check every six months.

In our latest guide, we cover:
✅ How often each type of building needs a check
✅ What a professional maintenance visit includes

Yesterday you saw the finished system on the roof at Red Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. Here's what went into it.

For over 70 years, Red Beach has been protecting Auckland's Hibiscus Coast — run entirely by volunteers. Alongside Entelar Energy, we designed and installed a 43.68kW solar system built to handle the coastal conditions, with the club contributing just 10% of the total cost.

The result: around 56MWh of clean energy a year and a 64% drop in power bills — funds the club can now put toward equipment and youth programmes instead.

Red Beach Surf Club Solar Case Study | Installed by Trilect Solar See how Trilect Solar and Entelar Energy delivered a 43.68kW solar system for Red Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, cutting power costs by 64% a year

🌞 We Covered 90% Of The Bill For This Solar System — Here's Why 🌞

Red Beach Surf Club has kept our beaches safe for 73 years — powered entirely by volunteers.

When rising power bills started eating into money meant for lifesaving gear and junior programmes, we couldn't just watch it happen.

Together with Entelar Energy, Trilect Solar delivered a 43.68kW solar system for the club — and covered around 90% of the cost between us. 🙌

Entelar Energy funded the panels and inverter tech. We donated the design, labour, installation, and commissioning, because this one was never about the invoice.

It also became real training for our electrical apprentices, who worked the install alongside experienced solar sparkies. 👷⚡

The result: decades of savings the club can put back into keeping our beaches safe.

Huge thanks to Laura Dewar and the Entelar Energy team, and everyone at Red Beach SLSC. 🤝

🚪 Gate automation has come a long way from a motor and a remote.

Smartphone-based access, solar-powered automation for off-grid sites, number plate recognition, and cloud dashboards that manage every gate across multiple sites from one login — the technology behind commercial gates is changing fast, and a lot of NZ businesses are still running on hardware from a decade ago.

We've put together a full breakdown of what's actually worth paying attention to (and what's still just hype) for commercial and rural sites across NZ.

How New Technology Is Changing Commercial Gate Automation Smartphone access, solar-powered automation, ANPR and cloud management are reshaping commercial gate technology in NZ — here's what's actually worth adopting.

By order of the Peaky Blinders — Howick Hornets senior prize giving, 2026. 🖤

Peter and Rudi rolled up their sleeves last Saturday and went full Christmas dinner for the occasion — 20kg of ham, 25kg of scalloped potatoes, broccoli, kumara, pumpkin, all the trimmings, all the gravy, mopped up with a few rolls. No half measures.

100 people fed. Peaky Blinders vibes all night.

Massive congrats to every single award winner this year — you earned it. And to whoever’s got the trophy right now… enjoy the borrowed glory. We were THIS close, and next year it’s coming home. 🏆🔥

Trilect is proud to back the Hornets, on and off the field. 🖤

🚗⚡ Plot twist: the most expensive part of installing EV chargers usually isn't the chargers. It's your switchboard.

Nobody puts that in the sales pitch. We did.

We broke down what actually drives the cost of commercial EV charger installation in Auckland — the boring electrical stuff that ends up mattering more than the shiny chargers themselves.

Bonus: how pairing it with solar changes the maths 🌞👀💲

What a grand final!

Howick Hornets went right down to the wire with Hibiscus Coast Raiders in yesterday's Sharman Cup decider at Albany Stadium, and it did not disappoint.

Final score 24-18 to Hibiscus Coast, but this one was nailbiting until the very last whistle. Defence from both sides was outstanding, and it was the boot of the Hibiscus Coast kicker that ultimately swung it their way.

Gutted for the boys, but so proud of the effort out there. Heads up, Hornets 💛🖤
